Fly Out and Find Adventure: 5 Great Places That Are Drone Friendly and Fun to Visit

Flying a drone can be fun. But instead of always zooming around your neighborhood, you can travel the country and navigate your drone in some of the most beautiful places on earth.  From the Northeast to the Mid-Atlantic and the Pacific there are lots of amazing fun filled places that you can visit.

When you are learning to fly drones, it’s best if you refrain from flying in certain locations. For instance, it’s advisable to avoid flying over open water. One small mistake, and your prized possession will be no more. It’s, therefore, best to look for large open areas where there is enough space to navigate. But if you like to be adventurers, there are cheap but reliable drones for beginners that can have fun with.

Not all areas are legal to fly in

Before you take your drone out for flying, it important you note that not all areas are legal to fly in. The FAA has restricted certain areas including national parks, stadiums, airports and soon national monuments such as the statue of liberty will follow. If you are in Washington, you should avoid flying over the capitol and the entire greater D.C. area in general.

Amazing places where you can fly your drone in

To make the most of the tech and have maximum fun with your drone, you need hop on a flight to one of these great destinations.

  1. Big Sur, California

The Big Sur is a nirvana for nature lovers. You can enjoy the breathtaking view as the Pacific Ocean’s waves crash into the seaside. There are lots of things you can do in the Big Sur area including hiking in the beautiful Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park. And your aerial flyer, you can navigate the challenging trails.

  1. Crystal Coast, North Carolina

Nine distinct regions dot 85 miles of shoreline in North Carolina’s Crystal Coast, giving your drone a diverse stash of footage that can be collected on a single trip. In the downtime, you can visit the famed Fort Macon State Park and meet the albino sea turtles in the aquarium in Pine Knolls Shore. If you fancy a challenge, you can climb the splendid 207 Cape Lookout Lighthouse and enjoy panoramic views that extend from the Atlantic Ocean to the Core Sound.

  1. Hanging Lake, Colorado

Hanging Lake is a hidden jewel in the rocky mountains of Colorado. Known for its awe-inspiring beauty, this photoesque lake boasts crystal clear water and gorgeous waterfalls spilling into it: a scenery perfect for exploring with a drone.

  1. Stone Mountain Park, Georgia

With over 3,200 acres of natural beauty, the Park is a unique and fun destination where families and friends can enjoy the outdoors together while experiencing an exciting variety of attractions, entertainment, and recreation. The mountain is the highest point for miles around allowing for long drone flights and a stunning view of the Confederate Memorial Carving, the largest high relief sculpture in the world.

  1. Garnet Ghost Town, Montana

Long gone are the times when Garnet was a thriving town, filled with gold miners and their families. Now what’s left, is a perfectly preserved ghost town. The area has lots of trails through the Garnet mountains and is perfect for camping, hiking and mountain biking.
