The top 3 ways to enjoy the Greek islands while on holiday

  • November 6, 2017
  • admin

The Greek islands are the perfect holiday getaway for any type of traveler. Whether you like to relax on the beach, go hiking up a mountain, or sample the local delicacies, Greece will deliver everything you hoped for and more besides.

While a trip to Greece all year round is a good idea, the summertime is still the peak season for tourists. You may want to plan your trip during that time if you like the bbuzz of a crowd, or you can go off-season when there are fewer people and you have many places to yourself.

You also need to research to make sure that you plan the perfect itinerary for your trip. With so many destinations to choose from, it’s best to come up with a route that will maximize your time in the country. To make sure that you will enjoy every minute of your stay there, check out the tips below.

1. Immerse yourself in the ancient sights of Greece – Greece is a haven for history buffs. Being one of the earliest civilizations, Greece is a fountain of not just ancient knowledge but also ancient sights. Go to Athens and you can visit the Acropolis which houses four well-known ruins of the ancient world, namely the Parthenon, Propylaia, Erechtheion and the Temple of Athena. If you like legends, you’ll surely enjoy a trip to Knossos, said to be the location of the myth of the Greek hero Theseus and of course the Minotaur. Of course, when it comes to myths, nothing comes close to the story of the Trojan War, and visiting Mycenae will take you to the home of Agamemnon, one of the main characters of the story. There are so many more places that you can visit, just do your research so that you can make the most of your time.

2. Do as the locals do, eat as the locals eat – when you start searching the internet for things to do in Greece, you’ll see thousands of suggestions on the best places to go and the best restaurants to eat at. While these will certainly be enjoyable for you and  whoever is traveling with you, it would also be a good idea to make friends with the locals and see where they go and eat.

3. Discover the islands by taking the ferries – a visit to Greece would never be complete without a tour of the famous islands. With thousands to choose from, you can spend months in Greece and still never run out of islands to discover. What is great about this archipelago is that the islands offer a lot of variety. On one island you’ll find secluded beaches whilst your next island will offer mountains that are perfect for hiking. While some prefer to ride airplanes to get from one island to another, the most popular way to tour the islands are still the ferries. There are so many companies that offer this service, but if you want a good deal, hop on the most beautiful islands of Greece with Hostelbay ferry tickets and pass online offer. They have planned a lot of great routes and tours in the island that you are bound to enjoy and what better way to travel than sitting in the sunshine up on deck with the blue Aegean sea all around you.
