Fun Ideas for a Hawaiian Vacation

  • June 26, 2015

Hawaii is home to some of the most beautiful scenery the world has to offer, making it one of the leading tourist destinations year after year. The island chain is home to waterfalls, volcanoes, canyons, jungles, mountains, oceanic panoramas and virtually every other kind of amazing landscape features one could imagine. While seeing the sights in Hawaii is as easy as stepping outside and travelling to the nearby countryside, creating an activity schedule during your stay is not as easy because there’s so much to do it can become difficult to choose, especially if you’ll only be there for a limited amount of time. If you’re having trouble deciding on some fun activities for your Hawaiian vacation, consider the following three ideas to enrich your island getaway:

1. Take a Tour of Waimea Canyon in Kauai

Many people don’t even know that the island of the Kauai is home to one of the world’s most underrated and beautiful natural wonders – the Waimea Canyon. The canyon is 3,500 feet deep and offers incredible views of illustrious valleys, stunning mountain peaks, and the nearby South Shore. It is often referred to as The Grand Canyon of the Pacific, and the views from some of the key vantage points can extend for miles out into the horizon. The canyon can be enjoyed via one of the many sightseeing tours offered in the area. If you’re going to stay in the area, it’s advisable to reside in an award-winning Kauai hotel for the best possible vacation experience.

2. Go Scuba Diving in Kealakekua Bay

If you’re into scuba diving, Kealakekua Bay offers an excellent venue rich with clear blue waters and a diverse range of marine wildlife. The bay is regarded as one of the most enjoyable scenes for underwater exploration. This is where you’ll find Captain James Cook’s memorial, which is also a great place to go snorkeling. When you come up from diving, you can relax on the white sand beaches that are lined with a breath-taking range of cliffs. Be prepared for a drive to get there though, as Kealakekua Bay is located about 45 minutes south of the city of Kailua-Kona.

3. Take the Kai ‘Oli’Oli Cruise

This is widely regarded one of the best cruises in Oahu, an island that is home to a number of celebrity homes and memorable tours and cruises. The Kai ‘Oli’Oli cruise takes you out on the water on a $1.5 million ship that is packed with luxurious accommodations. They even provide delicious Hawaii-style cuisine, which is often considered one of the highlights of the cruise. Aside from the amazing coastal views and mouth-watering lunch, the cruise also stops for some unforgettable snorkeling at a marine preserve, and you’ll get to see diving dolphins and the famous flying fish in their natural habitats. Fortunately the cruise is only about 20 minutes outside of Honolulu, so you won’t have to drive too far from your hotel.

Regardless of which one of these ideas you choose to try first, remember to bring your camera to capture all the sights for your picture album. Furthermore, don’t be afraid to look into nearby tours and activities to bundle in with the three ideas above while you’re in each area.
