5 Underrated Cities You Must Visit

  • January 30, 2017
  • admin

There are some cities that must be on your travel bucket list, but you have probably never considered them. The following destinations are bursting with so much culture, activities and amazing sights, you will wonder why you have not discovered them earlier.

  1. New Orleans, USA

New Orleans is the birthplace of jazz, which has defined the culture of this beautiful city. The cuisine is also as colourful and diverse as the music, offering delicious dishes that simply demand to be tasted, such as jambalaya, po’ boy sandwiches and shrimp gumbo and rice, offering flavours that will burst onto your tongue. You should consider booking a trip to New Orleans during February or early March to catch Mardi Gras, which is a celebration of Southern Louisiana, offering parades, music, beads, masks and traditions.

Whether you are a foodie or music lover, this is one city you must visit at least once in your lifetime. If you are considering a trip to this unique city, take a look at the New Orleans city guide.

  1. Krakow, Poland

It’s hard not to fall in love with Krakow. This remarkable city offers stunning architecture at every turn, and is complemented by an intriguing history, a variety of restaurants and amazing stores. For those who love nothing more than a shot of Polish vodka or a glass of beer, you will fall head over heels with the cellar bars that offer a great selection of drinks at great prices. In addition to exploring Wawel Castle in the centre of the city, you can visit the Ghetto of Heroes or can take a tour of Oskar Schindler’s factory. You can also book a day trip to the ski resort of Zakopane or can learn more about the history of the Holocaust at Auschwitz-Birkenau, which is just an hour’s journey away.

  1. Bratislava, Slovakia

Travel junkies should book a trip to Bratislava, because the beautiful buildings are worth the journey alone. The city has been transformed since Slovakia joined the EU back in 2004, as tourists can now enjoy some of many buzzing bars, cafes and restaurants in Bratislava’s Old Town. If you love nothing more than a cold beer, take yourself along to the beer halls to experience a variety of flavours you are unlikely to forget in a hurry.

  1. Galway, Ireland

To experience the true beauty of Ireland, look no further than Galway. Think traditional Irish music, more than 70 pubs and a medieval atmosphere that’s synonymous with the Emerald Isle. You will never be short on things to do, either, because the city offers a variety of festivals, from local arts to delicious oysters. While most tourists often choose to pay a visit to the capital of Dublin, you should book a trip to Galway to really embrace the history, sound and taste of this beautiful country.

  1. Genoa, Italy

Let’s face it, Italy is one country that is not short of amazing cities, with many people travelling to Rome, Milan and Naples every single day. However, one place that is sometimes overlooked is the stunning city of Genoa, which features wonderful winding streets that are lined with cafes, restaurants and bars. The ancient maritime city also offers a beautiful waterfront that will take your breath away.
