So you have bought your perfect caravan, looked online to find a caravan insurance quote and bought the best deal, filled up the tank and packed all your luggage in the boot – now it is time to explore! The beauty of a mobile caravan is that you can travel just about anywhere on the spare of the moment for a comfortable yet inexpensive holiday. Here are five beauty spots in the UK to explore with your caravan this year.
Cumbria
Travel to Cumbria to surround yourself in the natural landscapes of the Lake District and picturesque, chocolate-box little towns including Kendal, Penrith and Grasmere. There is a popular caravan site in Low Wray run by the National Trust to park your caravan for your stay, in close proximity to the historical town of Windermere. The bustling Victorian town of Ambleside in the heart of the Lake District boasts a myriad of scenic walks, quaint tea rooms, cycle roots and outdoor activities including a range of water sports for the whole family. Treat the kids to a day at the South Lakes Wild Animal Park in nearby in Dalton-in Furness or simply relax in the sun by the side of Lake Windermere.
Aberdovey/Aderdyfi
Aberdovey is a small, quiet seaside village nestled into the west coast of Wales. This tourist honey pot attracts campers, caravaners, day trippers and holiday makers from Wales and beyond. You can simply spend the day relaxing on the sandy beaches whilst the kids play in the nearby dunes or head over to the golf course for top-quality golf with sea-views. Visitors can also wander down to the harbour for a spot of fishing, crabbing and sailing. There are some great pubs dotted amongst the colourful lines of houses for meals throughout the day.
Cornwall
No UK summer list would be complete without mentioning the Cornish coast. There is an excellent camping site at Bay View Farm which overlooks Looe Bay, with nearby beaches, and rather unusually, a nearby monkey sanctuary. Cornwall caters for all generations, couples and families. Sample some of its famous Cornish ice-cream whilst enjoying the fresh sea air or head down to St. Ives for some of the best surfing and water sports in the UK. After a day wandering around the rugged coastlines and lush meadows inland, relax in a good Cornish pub with its famous pale ales.
Kent
Nicknamed the ‘garden of England’, Kent offers an idyllic setting for a caravan excursion close to London. Stay at the Cedar Gables caravan site in Wadhurst which is close to walking and cycling routes, fishing trips and an assortment of National Trust Houses. If you long for the beach, the quaint coastal town of Whitstable is full of charm and character, with oysters to try in seasonal months. If history is your forte, Kent houses a list of museums and castles to visit including Canterbury Cathedral, Scotney Castle and Rochester Castle.
Cotswolds
The Cotswolds are another of the UK’s areas of outstanding natural beauty in south-west England. The hills lie mainly within the historical towns of Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire but also extend to some parts of Wilshire, Somerset, Worcestershire and Warwickshire. Ramble over the Cotswolds many green pastures or visit its pockets of quintessentially English villages, hamlets and towns. Alternatively, you can head over to Cheltenham for a spot of horse racing or take a trip to Bath for a day of shopping, spas and architecture.
