5 Ways To Make Golf Travel Easier

  • September 20, 2021
  • Jules

Traveling with your golf clubs is similar to traveling with pets. It is allowed, but it can be a nuisance, especially if you are doing it for the first time. Considering how golf clubs are costly, you cannot buy them every time you go for a golfing trip outside your region. Also, if you golf regularly, by now, you are already used to the feel and touch of your club. That means even if you buy the same model, it will not feel quite the same.

When you learn how to effectively travel with your golf clubs, you can enjoy the many benefits of golfing from around any part of the world. The challenge with traveling with golf clubs is not just about how they will fit on the plane. There is also the risk that they might break or bend during transit. And as much as there is the possibility of you borrowing golf clubs when you get to your destination, that will not cut it for most people. If you want to enjoy peak performance, you will have to bring your tools. Discussed below are some tips to make traveling with golf clubs easier.

Get a Durable Case for the Golf Clubs

When choosing golf clubs cases, you can either go with hard cases or soft cases. Soft cases are easy to pack but not as solid as hard cases. On the other hand, hard cases can be challenging to pack, but they provide better protection for your clubs. Soft cases are made of fabric like nylon, which makes them easy to carry around. Hard cases are made of solid material, offering enhanced protection to the golf clubs. Also, most airlines are likely to compensate you for damaged clubs only if you have packed them in a hard case. Say you are touring Arizona Golf Schools, and you know you will be traveling a lot or you will be on a flight for long hours, then consider hard cases. For shorter trips, soft cases will do.

Take a Non-Stop Flight

It is advisable to book a non-stop flight if you will be traveling with your golf clubs. If you are switching flights, you are only increasing the chances of people handling your golf clubs. If one person is even a little sloppy, you may end up with either broken or bent golf clubs. To reduce the number of baggage handlers, book a non-stop flight. As much as they are a bit costly, they are convenient and reduce the risk of damage. While booking a flight, note that there is a difference between a non-stop flight and a direct flight. These two are often used interchangeably in conversation, but they mean different things.

Pick The Right Size

Since golf clubs are available in varying sizes, the worst mistake you can make is choosing the wrong size. A small golf traveling bag lets the golf clubs fit well. Just ensure it is not too small. A bigger golf club can be hard to fit the trunk, giving you problems on the road. When you go shopping, ensure you get the right size for safety and convenience.

Take Photos of The Bags and The Items Inside

Once you have picked the right bag, photograph it and the items inside. That way, if there is any damage during transit, you can hold the airline accountable. At times, baggage handlers are not gentle with luggage, and you can be sure that will not end well when your golf clubs are involved. Also, ensure the photos are clear and dated for accuracy.

Remove The Club Head

If you can, remove the club head from the shaft and put the head in the golf bag’s pocket. This may seem like a lot of work, but in the end, it is for the best for your golf clubs. Usually, since the clubheads are exposed when put in a bag, they are at higher risk of damage during transit. To ensure you do not forget the golf club’s setting, take a photo for easy assembly once you get to your destination.

With the above tips, there is no reason why you should not carry your favorite golf clubs on your next golfing trip. If you keep these tips in mind, then your clubs will be safe throughout the entire journey.
