Lifestyles of the rich and famous: Emulate your favourite star with a weekend break

  • March 22, 2013
  • Jules

Celebrities know how to holiday. Granted, they have the money to do so. They sure know how to pick an unbeatable holiday destination and really rub in how fantastic some of the perks of fame are.

From major world cities to the most exotic islands, celebrities always find the best places to spend their holidays – whether they choose to go on a London break put together by a travel company like Superbreak or to go on an extended stay in tropical St Tropez. While you may not be able to jet off for a month to Mexico or Hawaii at the drop of a hat, you can easily spend a long weekend exploring the same places that your favourite star does.

London

International music stars are always flitting between cities on their jaunts around the world touring in sell-out arenas. London is a notorious stop on the tour circuit with stars often staying for longer than other spots to perform numerous times. Recently Justin Bieber was in town, performing at the O2 Arena, hanging out at the trendy Cirque du Soir nightclub and staying at the fancy Langham Hotel, where Nicole Scherzinger was also staying for the Comic Relief concert. Rihanna has also been enjoying a London break of late, mixing business with pleasure on her trip to the capital.

Berlin

The best way to describe Berlin is ‘cool’. The city oozes style and culture and is always popular amongst the uber trendy celebrity crowd. Michael Jackson threw the city even further into the spotlight when he famously dangled his baby from the balcony of his hotel room. Musicians, models and photographers are popular sights on this city’s streets. David Bowie has always had a love affair with Berlin and is widely considered an adopted son of the city. He lived in the Schoeneberg district in West Berlin for three years in the 1970s. Berlin is also known for its raging nightlife. Clubs, like the institutional Beghain, are through to be amongst the best in the world – and celebrities agree, with the likes of Lady Gaga being seen here.

Monte Carlo

The coastline of the Southern French Riviera has always been a popular hangout for celebrities wanting to relax and take in the sun. But Monaco is a on a whole different level. The main city, Monte Carlo, is a myriad of flashy high-rise apartments where the world’s wealthiest gather to bask in the beautiful sun. This glamorous destination attracts the likes of Rihanna, Bono, Leonardo DiCaprio and the British royal family with its fantastic restaurants, hotels, and, of course, beaches.

Ibiza

No other place in the world attracts as many modern music stars as Ibiza. This small speck in the ocean is undoubtedly where the best DJ’s from around the world congregate and a legion of their famous fans seem to follow. A weekend trip to Ibiza is never going to be relaxing; it’s hectic, loud and boasts some of the best nightlife in the world. But this is what makes it such a popular spot for a short escape. Lady Gaga, Kylie Minogue, Kate Moss and P Diddy are all fans of the party island.
