Many outside Americans associate Washington with Washington DC. Not completely wrong but also not always right because there is another state that also has the name Washington, but without DC. Washington is a state in the northwestern United States that is often referred to as the “evergreen state.” Find out what you can do while traveling in “the Evergreen country!”
This state is synonymous with stunning natural beauty. For environmental and tracking lovers, this is one of the best. You can climb natural mountains with beautiful waterfalls in between, explore beautiful forests like in fairy tales, follow clear rivers with lots of fish in them, and whatever else you can imagine about wild nature.
It is the 42nd state, admitted (as a member of the Union) in 1889 and named after the first US President. Its long history, pristine and beautiful nature, and strong coffee culture make this state one of the most prominent in the US. Seattle is the center of Washington and it was in this city that Starbucks, the world’s largest cafe chain, grew and developed before expanding throughout the world. Coffee isn’t Washington’s only culinary strength since the state is also known for its fresh seafood and wines that are reflected in Pacific Northwest cuisine.
What can you visit?
There are various kinds, but of course, the wild is something you can’t miss. The legendary Mount Rainier, the mysterious Pacific coastline, Olympic National Park, and the San Juan Islands must be on your list for you to truly visit Washington!
Two different climate regions!
Washington has what are called two distinct climate regions. The eastern part is quite arid while the western part tends to be more fertile with high rainfall. Whatever your taste; dry or wet, Washington provides it! Spring is perfect for hiking and autumn for tracking among the colorful leaves. Summer provides enjoyment for lake and sea tourism, while winter, to top it off, is a great time for a ski holiday. The quality of a ski holiday in Washington is in no way inferior to the same holiday in the Alps.
Five unique areas
The Washington tourist area can be divided into five unique areas. They are the Olympic Peninsula and Coast, Seattle, North Cascades, Spokane, and the Columbia River George watershed. There is one marine attraction that is hard to miss because it is rare in other states. It is a whale-watching attraction. Summer is the best time to go whale watching.
Seattle, its capital
It is the center of Washington state with a variety of iconic landmarks and attractions.
