Season's feasting: London's best restaurants open on Christmas Day – Luxury  London

With the Christmas season approaching just about as fast as Santa’s sleigh, now is the time that families and friend start busily planning their festive celebrations.

For some, the perfect way to honour this magical time of year is by attending a carol service or  taking a trip to a local Christmas market, whilst for others there’s no better way to usher in the festive season than by enjoying some scrumptious festive grub at a top class restaurant.

If you’re planning a UK getaway this festive season, then Yorkshire, England’s biggest county is a must-visit. Not only is this stunning region blessed with an abundance of breath-taking natural landscapes and attractions, there are tonnes of fab restaurants serving up jolly festive grub.

Crab & Lobster

Sandwiched between the North York Moors National Park and the Yorkshire Dales, if you happen to be exploring either of these two areas of natural beauty over the festive season and you’re looking for the perfect place to enjoy some stunning Christmas grub, look no further than the Crab & Lobster in Thirsk.

This year this luxury hotel and restaurant are pulling out all the stops with a festive lunch menu that’s bursting full of delicious dishes that are guaranteed to make you feel warm and merry inside. 

Choose from delicate yet hearty starters including tasty duck bon bons or try a hearty main such as slow braised feathered blade of beef.

If that wasn’t enough, cap off your festive feast by tucking into one of their gorgeous desserts which include a boozy Bailey’s Chocolate Orange Truffle Crème Brulée. Mmm!

Middleton Lodge

Christmas is a time of indulgence and there’s better way to embrace that mantra than by heading to Richmond in North Yorkshire for a luxury festive feast to remember.

Throughout December Middleton Lodge, set in a beautiful Georgian estate, is serving up a festive menu that’s guaranteed to put the merry in Merry Christmas. Seated in opulent surroundings you’ll be invited to pick two or three courses from the festive set menu including a vibrant parsnip and truffle soup to start and mains including a succulent roast Yorkshire free range turkey ballotine complete with chestnut stuffing and crispy winter veg.

Sweet-toothed festive diners won’t be disappointed either; opt for a scrumptious homemade Christmas pudding, amongst other yummy desserts.

The Star Inn The City

Nestled on the banks of the River Ouse in York, next to the historic Lendal bridge, sits The Star Inn The City, a modern-British brasserie style restaurant that owes its culinary creations to the vision of chef patron Andrew Pern, winner of a coveted Michelin Star.

According to popular review platforms and local word of mouth The Star Inn The City is amongst the best places to eat in York and if you’re visiting this north Yorkshire city over the festive period then this eatery is a must-visit.

From the moment you take your seat in the cosy and ambient dining room you’ll be treated to first-class Yorkshire hospitality and then there’s the festive food. Up until January The Star Inn The City serves an incredible seasonal group menu comprising of mains like Thyme Roasted Breast of Rievaulx Shot Partridge and desserts such as a wholesome Bramley Apple & Winter Berry Crumble.

Seasonal group menu diners are also treated to a glass of fizz on a rival, adding an extra touch of sparkle to the occasion.

Ricci’s Place

Great festive food doesn’t necessarily have to be British. If you fancy trying something a little bit different this year then why not head to Ricci’s Place in Halifax, one of the most popular restaurants in West Yorkshire.

Ricci’s pride’s itself on making diners feel at home from the minute you walk through the door and this Italian eatery is perfectly suited to a festive gathering with some of your closest friends.

Took a glance at the Christmas menu and you’ll find familiar Italian Christmas staples such as a delicious Kale and Ham Soup  made from local ingredients and of course no proper Italian dessert list would be complete without a Tiramisu.

If you’re more of a traditionalist fear not because Ricci’s also caters for those who can’t get enough of a Christmas roast. The Christmas menu includes a crispy roast turkey breast and vegetarians can opt for the flavour-packed veggie wellington.

Silversmiths

Throughout this year the chefs at Silversmiths in Sheffield have been working tirelessly to come up with a brand new and exciting festive menu for 2022, and boy have they delivered.

If you’re visiting the steel city this Christmas season, be sure to check out this excellent modern-European eatery located next to Sheffield train station and Sheffield Hallam University.

The festive menu, which strikes the perfect balance between top-class cuisine and affordability, boasts a range of delicious starters but the real piece de resistance is the Christmas dinner main that comes complete with all the trimmings including glazed parsnips, roasties, truffled sprouts and lashes of onion gravy.

Festive menu diners can also enjoy a glass of prosecco with their feast and be sure to try out one of Silversmith’s vibrant speciality cocktails whilst you’re celebrating this magical time of year.
