3 High-Risk Places to Escape While on Holiday

  • January 24, 2020
  • admin

Traveling can be such an enriching and life-changing experience, especially when you do it with your good friends or your family. The things that you learn from traveling are valuable and will never be forgotten. The very idea of traveling is to be able to escape our real lives for a while and explore new cultures and new places. While we all want to go to as many places as we can on holiday, there are several high-risk places that we should avoid. These places can pose a real danger to us, and we should think twice before going there.

There will always be travel risks anywhere you go in the world. That is why it is extremely important to get holiday travel insurance to protect you and your family against unforeseen dangers.

There are certain places that are not ideal for going on holiday. However, there are some dangerous places that you may not be aware of. If you’re planning a holiday with family or friends, here are three high-risk places to avoid:

  1. Venezuela

Venezuela is a beautiful country with diverse natural attractions. However, a newly-published Travel Risk Map created by risk and security experts International SOS has rated Venezuela as a dangerous place when it comes to health and medical risks, including infectious diseases. There are also some cities in Venezuela, such as Caracas and Cumana, which has some of the highest rates of homicide in the world. The US Department of State has issued warnings against going to Venezuela due to crime, kidnapping, and civil unrest.

  1. Brazil

Brazil is a popular tourist destination, well known for Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, the yearly Carnaval, and the Amazon Rain Forest. However, there are several cities in Brazil such as Belem, Teresina, Feira de Santana, and Manaus which are on the list of the 30 most dangerous cities in the world due to its high rate of homicide. There are also reported cases of pick-pocketing or muggings in main urban areas.
  1. Thailand

Thailand is on the bucket list of many travelers, well-known for its temples, beaches, cuisine, and party scene.  However, tourists who go on holiday to Thailand may be faced with several risks. Foreign visitors are advised to exercise caution, particularly in dealing with strangers. There are known tourist scammers in the country, particularly lurking in famous spots. While the big cities are relatively safe to visit, governments issue travel warnings for the Southern Border Provinces of Narathiwat, Yala, and Pattani due to revolts. There are also tropical diseases, viruses and hot, sticky weather that can affect even the healthiest of people.

These are just three places that are deemed dangerous for travelers. Going to these places is unsafe and you don’t want to be put in a situation where your valuables and even your life will be in danger. However, you also need to remember that certain risks are present everywhere you go. That is why you should choose holiday travel insurance that has comprehensive coverage.
