4 Ideas for Island Hopping in Indonesia

  • September 10, 2019
  • admin

Indonesia is a country with so many holiday experiences to offer. You can go on multiple trips to Indonesia and still find new things to explore. The country is so diverse that it has the ability to offer something for everyone.

Want to go on a culinary adventure? Indonesia is the place to visit. Thinking about relaxing on a beautiful white sand beach? There are plenty of gorgeous beaches to choose from. Want to visit multiple islands in this archipelago? Don’t worry, we have got you covered with these ideas to try.

Karimunjawa

Java, home to Indonesia’s capital city of Jakarta, is already a diverse island on its own. Places like Jakarta and Bandung offer different experiences than cities like Semarang and Yogyakarta. If you happen to visit Semarang for its cultural attractions, a trip to Karimunjawa can be the perfect addition to your travel itinerary.

Karimunjawa is an island not too far from Semarang. It is a true hidden gem and the perfect island-hopping destination for those looking for a quick detour from a Java adventure. The island isn’t just beautiful; it’s pristine.

You will see the crystal-clear water and beautiful underwater scenery as you get closer to Karimunjawa. The local people are incredibly welcoming too. On top of that, there are some beautiful resorts ready to pamper you to the max while you spend some time on the island.

The Gilis

Another popular island in Indonesia is Bali. In fact, it is still the most popular travel destination in Indonesia with millions of travelers from the US, Europe, and Australia visiting this island every year. Bali is the place where you can find tranquil beaches as easily as you can find exciting parties.

From Bali, however, you can go to other gorgeous islands and have a full-on adventure. You can always book a ferry to the Gili islands to experience different ambiences. Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno, and Gili Air all offer different experiences for different travelers.

You can also visit Lombok and Sumba from Bali. In fact, there are now tours that take you all the way to Flores and the Komodo Island if you are willing to spend a few days island hopping from Bali. Prepare for beautiful sunsets, memorable experiences, and local hospitality.

Belitung

You may not find as lively of a nightlife as Bali when visiting Bangka Island, but the place has its charm. For many travelers, Bangka Island and its natural beauty are perfect. This is the Indonesian island you should visit if you are looking for a quiet, peaceful vacation.

From Bangka, you can take a short boat ride to heaven on earth: the island of Belitung. Belitung is even more preserved and pristine. You can see the underwater scenery without having to dive or even snorkel. Big rounded boulders make spots like Tanjung Kelayang even more beautiful.

Belitung should not be the end of your island-hopping adventure either, because you can continue your trip to Lengkuas Island. The island may be small, but it is incredibly beautiful. Fine sand, calm waters, and a stunning 19th-century lighthouse complete the picture.

Padar

Are you planning a visit to the Komodo National Park? The Komodo Island, home to the Komodo dragons, isn’t the only island you can visit during the trip. While a trip to Komodo Island is a must, other islands in the national park are just as beautiful.

Padar Island is a good example. The beaches are lined with pearly white sand as well as black fine sand depending on which side of the island you visit. The hills provide the perfect setting for an afternoon hike; the view that greets you when you reach the top is absolutely majestic.

These four island-hopping ideas will make your trip to Indonesia much more exciting. The next time you visit the country, be sure to give island hopping a try and add new layers of fun to your holiday.
