Top Asian Highlands that Offer a Perfect Summer Retreat

  • March 7, 2019
  • admin

By this time of the year, most people are already planning for their summer trips. Summer is the perfect time for most people to travel especially for families with kids and college students. Travelling always allows people to get a break and explore newer places. Lately, Asian countries have been attracting a lot of attention in the international tourism for their raw beauty and moderate climates that appeal the west. Moreover, Asians have a uniquely vibrant culture to offer. Most Asian destinations so far have only attracted attention for their beaches, however, many people prefer cooler destinations for summer retreats to feel relaxed and closer to nature. Asia is home to some of the incredibly gorgeous highlands that offer moderately cold retreats with pleasant weather conditions with a natural beauty that is an absolute treat to experience. Here are some of the highland destinations that you should not be missing out in Asia.

Cameron Highlands

Malaysia is a tropical country in general, but a four-hour drive from the capital takes you to this beautiful valley. This is a highland area that has pleasantly cold weather all year round. The main attractions of the highlands are lush green organic farms and beautiful tea valleys that are soothing for both your eyes and soul. If you are traveling to Malaysia and have had enough of the humidity of Langkawi and Kuala Lumpur, it would be a good idea to head to Cameron Highlands for a change. There are many people who make day trips only but an overnight stay is highly recommended.

Bukit Tinggi

Bukit Tinggi is yet another highland destination close to the Malaysian capital, however, this one is highly underrated since the neighboring Genting highlands takes away all the attention due to its fancier attractions. Bukit Tinggi is also popularly known as the French Valley because of the picturesque French-themed resort, Normal Tropical located in the valley.

Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai is located in Thailand, a country that is hugely popular for its beaches. It is often a surprise for tourists to know of a destination in Thailand, which is totally non-beachy yet worth the visit. Unlike the humid islands in the country, Chiang Mai is much more pleasant in terms of climate and is home to green rice paddies, dense forests, and beautiful waterfalls. Other than the natural beauty of the town, there are numerous other things to do during Chiang Mai tour, such as exploring the beautiful ancient Buddhist temples and the bordering Golden Triangle.

Nuwara Eliya

Nuwara Eliya is located in Sri Lanka and is yet another beautiful highland destination. It is home to some of the most beautiful botanical gardens and gorgeous mountain peaks. The journey from Colombo to Nuwara Eliya is a scenic treat. Although it is equally enjoyable to travel by road, the royal train ride through the Lankan mountains is a must have experience.

Hunza

A little off the track, but this little valley of Hunza in Pakistan has been recently getting a lot of attention from the western tourists. Hunza sits in between the giant Karakorum and the Hindukush mountains. The region was initially famous for adventure tourism since mostly trekkers and mountain climbers visited here. However, over a period of time and with better facilities more people are traveling to Hunza and are totally awestruck by the valley’s beauty.
