Best Beaches Near Bangkok

  • December 17, 2013

Bangkok, the largest city of Thailand, has become one of the most popular destinations in Southeast Asia in just a few decades. Known for its vibrant nightlife, its wide variety of attractions and its unique atmosphere, this city is a great place for those people in search of an exotic and original location to enjoy their holidays. Whether you are looking to admire some of the most astonishing buildings in Thailand, or would just like to learn more about this country’s history, Bangkok is a great place to spend your vacation.

Although the city of Bangkok offers a great selection of sights and tourist attractions, it is also possible to visit some of its remarkable surroundings, where you will have the opportunity to find some of the most breathtaking beaches of the region. In this article we will take a look at some of them, allowing you to fully enjoy your time off in Thailand.

Discover Bang Saen Beach

Just an hour away from the city of Bangkok, Bang Saen Beach is frequently visited by those locals who would like to spend their weekends near the sea. While this beach offers you some exceptional views, it is also a great place to try some seafood in one of the numerous restaurants located in the vicinity of the beach. While it is possible to use your own car in order to get to Bang Saen Beach, it is highly recommended to make use of the public transport network, something that will allow you to spend a day in this location without having to worry about looking for a parking space for your vehicle.

Visit Hua Hin Beach

Hua Hin Beach is 190 km away from the centre of Bangkok, making a nice destination for those visitors in search of a place to visit on a weekend. Unlike other regions in this country, you will find well-kept sandy beaches in Hua Hin, one of the most popular locations in the western shore of the Gulf of Thailand. While the beach is not extremely close to Bangkok, it is possible to spend a night in some of the multiple hotels located nearby, something that will allow you to spend the next day relaxing at the beach and give you the opportunity to visit Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park, just ten minutes away from Hua Hin. Last, but not least, don’t forget to take advantage of some of the unique services you will find in this beach, such as horse riding, where you can rent a horse and have your picture taken while riding it along the beach.

A Day in Koh Samet Island

Koh Samet, located in the eastern shore of the Gulf of Thailand, is a very small island just 200 km south of Bangkok. While Bang Seng and Hua Hin beaches were located in the mainland, it is possible to find a wide range of astonishing locations all around Koh Samet’s coast, such as Sai Kaew, Wong Deuan and Ao Prao beaches. Although it is necessary to use a ferry in order to reach Koh Samet Island, you will have the option of visiting Khao Laem Ya – Mu Ko Samet National Park, an astonishing natural environment where you will find a wide variety of flora and fauna. You will also find a nice selection of shops and restaurants near the beaches, where it is very easy to find new people and enjoy the nightlife together.

Enjoy Your Time in Pattaya Beach

If you are looking for a beach located just an hour and a half away from Bangkok, Pattaya Beach is one of your best options. Known for its sandy beaches and enticing landscapes, Pattaya Beach can be easily reached using one of the frequent van or bus transfer services from Bangkok, although it is also possible to rent a car in order to visit this enchanting town. Benefit from the cheap hotels, order some traditional Thai food while relaxing near the sea and have a great time in Thailand.

It’s worth remembering that booking flights to Bangkok doesn’t mean your holiday has to be restricted to the city. While Bangkok has plenty to keep you enthralled and entertained, there are some great places within easy reach of the city to keep your options open.
