Port Aventura is one of Spain’s most popular tourist attractions. But don’t let that put you off a visit! A theme park located in the beach resort of Salou, Port Aventura is a fun and exciting way to spend a few days (or even the entirety!) of your time on the beautiful Costa Daurada. Nearly five million people make the trip each and every year to take full advantage of its seven roller coasters, three water rides and a further twenty-nine other thrill-inducing apparatus, so take a second to hear how you can make the most of your time in Port Aventura.
The Park
The park of Port Aventura itself is a vast expanse, practically a Spanish province in itself. It has five distinct parts of the park, each representing a different part of the world and their respective cultures. The Mediterranean, the Wild West, Mexico, China and the Pacific Islands are all there and each provides a different kind of experience. Make sure you keep hold of the map you’re given when you enter in order to plan ahead a little. By all mean wander around and let the rides sweep you away, but a little planning means you can really maximise your time in the park.
The Attractions
In short, there are many! Aside from the obvious roller coasters and rides that will either fling you off your seat or press you right back into it, there are plenty of things to get up to in Port Aventura. From showdowns in the Wild West part of town to boat rides and firework displays, there is pretty much something for everyone and every taste. If thrill seeking isn’t your thing, don’t be put off and miss out on the opportunity of a great day out!
The Accommodation
If you are planning to explore the adventure part to its fullest, the only real way to do this is to stay in the park itself. There are four hotels in Port Aventura, so plenty to choose from, and each one corresponds to a theme, again, just like the park! The restaurants and bars in the hotels are all of the highest quality and staying in one of the four can be an ideal way towards a stress free vacation, especially for those travelling with children! If you do have kids, the last thing you want is to have to drag them from the park in order to make it back to your hotel for dinner. If you stay in the park, you’re already home!
The Food and Drink
Like most international theme parks, there is something for everyone. I wouldn’t hold your breath for the cheapest prices you’ve ever seen, but most outlets in Port Aventura are very reasonable! If you are travelling on a very strict budget or perhaps with your children, maybe think about taking snacks and plenty of cold drinks to combat the heat. Make sure you try one of the ice-cream stands though, that’s some advice you certainly shouldn’t ignore.
