Free Things to do in Florida

  • September 17, 2012
  • Jules

It is without doubt that the sunshine state of Florida is indeed one of the most exciting places in the whole of the United States. With Disney World, Miami and Tampa all within a short distance from one another, it is certain that you shall never find yourself bored whilst on holiday there.

With so many great holidays available from Florida 4 Less in 2013, perhaps it is time that you yourself get out there and take an adventure that will last a lifetime!

The only thing is however, that great excitement usually comes with a great bill. So if you fancy doing something fantastic, that costs nothing, we’ve devised a fun list of things to do for free when you’re on holiday!

Kissimmee Old Town

One great place to experience if you fancy enjoying a little bit of the past is Kissimmee Old Town.

Every evening when the light starts to fade around 7:30pm, you will find yourself walking down streets alive with colour, emotion and traditional 50’s and 60’s Rock n’ Roll!

Besides that, you will also find a huge mix of authentic shops, rides and car cruises, just ready to take you away into the fantastic world of yesterday.

If you find yourself visiting around Halloween you will also find the amazing Old Town Halloween Theme Park that is totally of free entry. Though be warned, those costumes are very lifelike!

Lakeridge Winery & Vineyards

Found just outside of Florida, the Lakeridge Winery & Vineyards offer free tours and wine tasting throughout the week and are held every 15-20 minutes.

The tours include production areas and views of the vineyards themselves. The best bit however, is towards the end of the tour when you are invited to taste and experiment with award winning wines.
Every year more than 110,000 enjoy touring the winery every year and the vineyards produce a staggering 80,000 cases that are sold in shops and supermarkets throughout Florida.

The wine tasting lasts approximately 45 minutes in total and of course, you are welcome to buy a bottle or two for when you get home!

Orlando Brewing Company

Continuing the alcoholic theme of the vineyards, the Orlando Brewing Company also hosts free tours around its premises. Being the only certified organic brewery in one of the most important cities in Florida is a big task, but one that the Orlando Brewing Company does fantastically.
With free tours taking place Monday to Saturday through until 6pm, you will always find a great choice of beers on offer with the bar, live entertainment and gift shop available throughout the day!

Whether you enjoy pilsner, pale ale, Weiss beer or simple stout; you’ll find them all under one roof at the Orlando Brewing Company.

Big Tree Park

If you fancy doing something a little more relaxing however, than a visit to big tree park may well be for you! Containing one of the oldest trees in the world, Lady Liberty stands at an impressive 86 feet and is a reputable 2000 years old!

Although the park did also inhibit The Senator who himself was a grand 3,400 years old until his unfortunate demise in 2012.

The park welcomes guests to walk, picnic and enjoy entertainment in one of the most ancient and wooded areas in the Orlando area!

Downtown Disney

If you’re looking for something a little bit more magical than most, then your children may very well enjoy the free delights of the Downtwon Disney World Resort.

Opened in 1975, the shopping village hosts a variety of beautifully unique shops and restaurants including the famous Fulton’s Crab House.

Not only that but there’s also a lovely marina, marketplace and carousel if you’re looking for a little more.

Of course the great news is that if you find yourself staying at a Disney Resort Hotel, you can travel on the Magic rail; so your journey to the beautiful lake will be free!
