3 Amazing Budget Holiday Destinations

  • November 11, 2011

Do you have some time off during the holidays and are looking to travel cheaply? There are many options out there in regards to cheaper locations to visit during your holiday. Traditionally, people who were looking to travel seek out their relatives. Although a person or family may have higher travel costs in the way of airfare associated with these locations, generally there is no need to obtain a hotel as you can simply stay with your relatives. Before you set off, compare holiday prices to establish the cost difference. And if the thought of visiting your family (or your in-laws) brings you out in a cold sweat and panic about organising itineraries this article will highlight three alternative budget holiday destinations;

One tip for a budget holiday destination is to choose a holiday that is specific only to your location or group. For example, Christmas is a big holiday in many Christian countries. Travelling is widespread during this time of the year and this is reflected in higher airline ticket prices. Consider travelling outside of a Christian area during this time. China is a good example. Not only will the airfare be cheaper in this country as this is not a busy time of year, but there will be less people travelling and you can enjoy your vacation more rather than just be stuck in crowds. The Great Wall in Beijing or the Bund in Shanghai are much more enjoyable if they are not as crowded.

Try visiting Turkey during a holiday season. Not only is the Turkish Lira a currency that offers some pricing advantages over the Euro or other currencies, but there are many sites to visit cheaply in this nation as tourism hasn’t completely flourished yet in this nation. Try visiting a Turkish bath in Istanbul, or the travertines in Pamulake, or the caves in Cappadocia. These sites can be visited cheaply and affordably during the holidays.

In Europe, many people have vacation time during the summer and travel down to the southern coast. During winter holidays these sites are often empty and cheaper to visit. Spain is a good example of a place to go cheaply and during the winter you could try a tapas crawl in Madrid, walking along the beach in Barcelona, or any number of other vacation spots can all be visited on budget during the holiday.
