Us Brits love a trip to the seaside and when the first hint of sun appears we’re staked out on the beach, soaking up the rays. Look closely and you might see the odd example of the traditional Brit-on-the-beach image; white socks and sandals combo and red nose/shoulders/ankles (ouch).
For many the beach has been a favourite hangout since childhood when we were lured with ice creams, sandcastle building and donkey rides (are they still allowed to do that?) For the grown ups there are the arcade games, traditional old pubs and a fish and chip supper at the end of the night. For the more adventurous there are opportunities for surfing, diving, fishing, rock climbing and so much more.
In fact 40 percent of UK adults took a trip to the beach last year and whether you want to paddle your toes, hide out in the sand dunes or hit the local theme parks on your next trip, these have been voted as the top 10 resorts to visit;
10. Great Yarmouth, Norfolk
9. Skegness, Lincolnshire
8. St Ives, Cornwall
7. Torquay, Devon
6. Newquay, Cornwall
5. Scarborough, North Yorkshire
4. Bournemouth, Dorset
