Kazakhstan Holidays – Tours & Adventure Travel Guide

PureTravel Says
“Kazakhstan is home to nomadic people, explaining why vast areas have a deserted, peaceful quality. Being the ninth largest country in the world and almost the size of Western Europe, it is surely a wonderful place for holiday tours. Its abundant wildlife of about 200 mammal species and 480 species of birds will offer you an amazing bonus when deciding to tour Kazakhstan. It is also one of the richest Central Asian countries in terms of culture, wildlife and nature. The scenic Alpine Mountains, snow-capped peaks, multi-colored lakes and pristine glaciers are some of the majestic scenes you can expect to see here.”

Highlights

Fishing – Visitors can fish from the three Koi Sai Lakes where the main fish here is the trout. The lakes are beautiful and green and make perfect camping sites. The huge Almaty Lake is another perfect fishing spot and is incredibly scenic with its waters reflecting the sky and the mountains that surround it.

Culture – The vast steppes and the desert of Kazakhstan makes it a beautiful and refreshing environment for a holiday. Kazakhstan is a country of nomadic people as well as other cultures. People here can often be seen on the move with their horses. They value traditional food and their meals will always have milk and meat. They will also use rice, seasoning, vegetables, legumes and bread while cooking each meal. Some, however, live a semi-nomadic lifestyle, where they move their animals from their farms to the alpine pastures during the summer season. At this time, too, they would visit Yurtas.

Famous monuments can be found in Kazakhstan filled with interesting stories and history. You can also feast your eyes on the untouched beauty of nature and its landscapes. The first natural reserve in Central Asia called Aksu Djarbagly is found in Kazakhstan. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The Charyn Canyon, which is a fertile valley, is known for fantastic rock sculptures and canyon-style shapes. The Kozha Akhmed Yasaui Mausoleum exhibits the tomb of the revered Sufi teacher.

Mountains – Medeo is a place worth visiting. It is located near the beautiful Almaty Valley and has an ice-skating facility and a dam that protects the city from floods. If you get the opportunity to explore the mountains and travel the great Silk Road, you will be rewarded with a stunning landscape.

The great historical sights in Kazakhstan are more than just the mountains. The Khidja Akhmed Yassavi is one of the best places where you can have some fun and learn some history at the same time.

Adventure Tours – The Tamgaly Tash Valley offers 4,000 unique petroglyphs, resulting in an open-air art gallery.

Wildlife – Kazakhstan has an abundance of wildlife, which will delight ornithologists and naturalists, with 200 species of mammals and 480 species of birds. There is abundant vegetation as well as singing sands and Beshatyr Saka burial mounds.

When to Go

A good time to travel through Kazakhstan is during the months of June through to the first two weeks of October. You will be able to explore the mountains and travel the Great Silk Road. During the winter season, the snow usually falls. Generally, the climate here is continental whilst the hottest month is July.
