  • Jules

If money and time was no object, where would your dream travel destination be? Would it be exploring ultra-modern Tokyo, meeting penguins in Patagonia or staying at a sumptuous palace in Venice?

Whatever your personal preference, the top seven dream destinations have just been revealed by the travel social networking community WAYN. Its millions of users have whittled the entire world down into just 7 destinations – a tough call indeed!

The Top 7 Dream Destinations, in no particular order are;

  • Indonesia
  • Fiji
  • South Africa
  • Dubai
  • India
  • Brazil
  • Turkey

And the good news is that although there are a few ‘exotic’ destinations that made the short list such as Fiji and Indonesia, there are also a couple of established favourites such as Turkey and India, which is great news for the travel budget!

Indonesia is an outdoor lover’s paradise with dense rainforests to trek and spot wildlife such as the komodo, elephants and orangutans. Then of course there are the blissful untouched beaches of Bali and beyond and the world’s largest Buddhist temple of Borobudur.

Fiji is the ideal spot to really get away from it all and with fantastic dive sites, snorkelling adventures and swimming with the manta rays; this is the destination for water-babies!

South Africa has it all! From a fascinating safari in the world famous Kruger National Park to sipping locally produced wines. From shopping and dining in cosmopolitan Cape Town to climbing majestic table Mountain, From spotting whales and dolphins at Plettenburg and shark cage diving. Phew!

Dubai is one of the biggest and boldest destinations on earth and the trademark Burj Khalifa skyscraper is instantly recognisable. There’s plenty to do in this Emirate too such as skiing, shopping, desert safari, dhow cruise and soaking up the local culture.

India is diverse and mesmerising, with ancient monuments, traditional culture and a wealth of things to see and do, you’ll never be bored. Take a relaxing houseboat cruise along Kerala’s backwaters or enjoy a cooking tour in Goa with local chefs. Witness the mighty Golden Triangle region and see the Taj Mahal for yourself and try skiing in northern India.

Brazil is hot stuff right now as it prepares to host both the FIFA World Cup 2014 and the Olympic Games in 2016. Explore bustling Rio de Janeiro with its iconic Sugarloaf Mountain and Christ the Redeemer Statue. Try hiking and kayaking Brazil’s Green Coast, gawp at the mighty Iguazú Falls and paddle down the Amazon. All we can say is get in quick!

Turkey is a firm family favourite; it’s easily accessible and won’t break the bank. The colourful city of Istanbul is an absolute must – just immerse yourself in the lively culture and heritage. And there’s mysterious Cappadocia, cruises around the many islands and a wealth of cultural sites such as Gallipoli, Ephesus, Pamukkale, Troy and Antalya. Follow in the steps of the legendary explorer Alexander the Great.

And now for the toughest call – one overall favourite destination will be chosen from these seven, based on public voting! Who would you vote for?
