How to Plan a Luxury Trip to Croatia

  • March 12, 2024
  • Robert

Croatia is most famous for its beautiful beaches, with close to 2,500 miles of coastline stretching between its islands and the mainland. However, there’s so much more to this popular tourist destination than just pure white sand.

Whether you want to check out one of their fabulous festivals, sample their culinary delights, or delve deep into their rich history, there’s something for everyone in Croatia.

For those who only like to travel in style, planning a luxury trip to Croatia couldn’t be easier, as this country boasts stunning accommodation options, extravagant excursions, and 5-star dining options.

Decide when you want to go

As a vacation destination, Croatia offers the perfect combination of warm and dry summers and colder winters. With plenty of sunshine for those who want to soak up the sun’s rays, the average temperature during the summer months is between 21 and 29 degrees.

The best time to visit Croatia depends on what you want to do when you get there. If you want to sit back and relax on the beach, between June and August is best. However, if you prefer temperatures to be a little cooler so you can enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking and kayaking, April, May, or October are better choices.

Plan how to get around

If you want to explore the many Croatian islands, there are several transport methods available to you. Croatia has an extensive network of ferries that connect the mainland with its surrounding islands, and these run all year round.

Alternatively, if you would prefer a more luxurious way to explore, you might want to book a Croatia yacht charter, which will enable you to visit all of Croatia in style with complete freedom to go where you want, when you want.

Book somewhere to stay

When it comes to where to stay in Croatia, you’re spoilt for choice, with an abundance of 5-star hotels offering luxury amenities such as roll-top bathtubs, expansive swimming pools, and award-winning spas.

Some of the best hotels can be found in Dubrovnik, as well as Zagreb, which is the country’s capital city. If you want to explore the south of Croatia, Split is home to an array of excellent hotels and guesthouses.

Make reservations at the best restaurants

Croatian cuisine is varied and distinctive, predominantly because it straddles two culinary cultures: the Mediterranean and central Europe. You’ll also find that different regions have their own specialties for you to try, with a wide selection of meat and seafood dishes.

There are several fine-dining restaurants in Croatia, including the Michelin-starred restaurant at Hotel Navis in Volosko and Pelegrini in Sibenik. Alternatively, if you want to push yourself outside your comfort zone, the street food in Croatia is amazing.

Final thoughts

If you haven’t been to Croatia before, you’re in for a real treat. It’s a luxury destination that offers so much to see and do for people of all ages, just make sure you come for at least a week or you’ll regret it!
