3 Essential Tips for Setting Up Your Own Airbnb

  • July 18, 2023
  • Jules
If you’re looking to turn your second home into an Airbnb, we’ve put together three essential tips to help you see success! Read our blog for more.

If you’re a frequent traveller, you may have stayed in an Airbnb yourself, and if you haven’t, you’ll know someone who has.

The platform has taken the travel industry by storm, making domestic and international accommodation booking easier than ever before.

However, not only does it make it easier for you to book your accommodation, but it has also made becoming the host of a holiday home just as simple.

If you have a second property that you want to turn into an Airbnb, or are looking to purchase one, check out our top three tips for making yours a success.

1) Choose Your Location Carefully

If you’ve yet to purchase your second property, then it’s important to consider your location. When choosing somewhere to buy a holiday home, you want to consider how popular the local area will be with tourists.

Consider city centre locations that will attract both those travelling for business or those looking for a city break. Alternatively, if you’re wanting to choose something rural, consider popular tourist attractions in the area – such as towns like Fort William which attracts those looking to climb Ben Nevis.

Of course, it’s important to remember that with more rural locations, you’ll be more at the mercy of seasonal travel than you would with a location popular with those looking for a city break.

Platforms such as Rightmove are a great resource for finding property for sale both in the UK and abroad.

2) Ensure Comfort for Your Guests

Comfort is essential when setting up your Airbnb, as an uncomfortable set up can lead to negative reviews and a poor host rating.

If you want to ensure that your guests have somewhere cosy to sleep after a long day of sightseeing, consider consulting with the mattress experts at companies such as Archers Sleep Centre. With their help, you’ll be able to find the perfect mattress brand to ensure your guests get a good night’s sleep.

If you can provide your guests with a comfortable experience, not only will they be more likely to leave you a good review, but they may also recommend you to their friends and family, and return to you for future visits to the area.

3) Cater to Their Needs

Being able to cater to your guests needs will set you on the right track to becoming a popular host. Not only should you provide them with basics such as tea and coffee, but make sure to stock the fridge and cupboards before they arrive with items such as milk, orange juice, cereal, and bread.

This is often particularly appreciated by guests on their first morning before they’ve had a chance to explore and scope out breakfast locations or complete a food shop for themselves, especially if they arrived late at night.
