Provence is one of the most beautiful places that our planet has been blessed with. France is abundantly lucky to be home to a city as gorgeous as Provence. Every year, thousands of tourists visit this lovely piece of land and drop their jaws at the marvellous sights that Provence has to offer. So, if you are planning a trip to Provence anytime soon, you are probably making one of the best decisions of your life. To make your vacation even better, we suggest the following five things that you must do while you are in Provence.

Behold the lavender fields

If you are a true romantic at heart, there is no way you don’t like lavender. It is one of the most popular and widely loved fragrances in the world. Lavender is known for its calming effects, and Provence is well-known for its lavender fields. Provence exports lavender flowers all across the world. It is its number one export.

So, you can imagine the kind of warmth and happiness that you are going to experience in a field full of lavender. The Luberon district around Gordes is famous for its lush lavender fields. You can see them in full bloom if you go to Provence during the early summer months. In case you want to know more about the lavender fields of Provence, you can go to the Lavender Museum.

Learn history at the MUCEM and the Fort Saint-Jean

If history and art are two things that excite you, then this activity is perfect for you. The Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilisations (MUCEM) is a very modern approach to architecture, and it is linked to the classic Fort Saint-Jean, which has been restored recently. A unique but elegant pathway has been used to connect both of these wonderful places. The pathway is a monument in itself. You will be intrigued by its magnificence. The best part about this place is that you will learn a lot about history from these two places and they are right next to one another.

Go hiking at the Sainte-Victoire

The lovers of adventure are going to love this activity. The Sainte-Victoire is a tall, dark and handsome mountain that offers wonderful sights at both top and bottom. You can have a lovely picnic at the base, but if you are tough enough, you can go hiking to the top. The view is breathtaking. If you make up your mind to do it, make it a goal to touch the cross that’s at the summit.

Count the Streets and Fountains of Aix en Provence

If you think we are kidding, go see for yourself. Six en Provence has a fountain at every roundabout and every intersection. This could be the reason why Aix is known as the “City of the Thousand Fountains.”

Spend some serene moments at the Sénanque Abbey

A trip to the Sénanque Abbey will feel both holy and refreshing. Make sure to take it.
