Building the ultimate hotel

  • May 20, 2021

Many of us dream of leaving the rat race and living and working in our dream destinations. Some of my friends have even managed to do it! Most have gone abroad to run guesthouses and hotels. There are many many things to think about when creating your dream hotel from the location to the construction and then the garden, the decor, the food and guest experience. Here we are going to look at a few tips for hotel and guest house construction.

A hotel can only run its business effectively if it manages to maintain a quality ambiance throughout. This includes making sure all the fixtures and fittings are of a high quality, that fit into the type of building in that area (and any heritage requirements) and that will work for the guests staying. Here are some window types to consider for your hotel:

  • Fixed windows

As the name suggests for itself, these windows are fixed to the walls. There is no opening or closing in this type. This is to ensure that maximum amount of sunlight is let into the room. Sometimes, these windows also come with shutters which are typically weather proof. These are highly popular amongst hotel owners due to the aesthetic appeal it provides.

  • Sliding windows

This is the type in which the shutters are in the form of a frame which is movable. It may move either in a vertical direction or horizontal direction. There are roller bearings attached which assist the movement. It is normally used in different hotel rooms. It is a combination of optimal functionality and aesthetics.

  • Double glazed windows

These windows are primarily installed due to the enhanced functionality it offers. These windows come with two panes of glass. There are special gases filled between these panes to provide better insulation. Double glazed windows have multiple benefits. For instance, these can be installed for better insulation, energy efficiency, noise cancellation features and enhanced security. Hotels prefer these types of windows since they are multi-functional and appear attractive.

  • Louvered windows

These are of the most aesthetic options in the market. It provides effective ventilation. However, it limits the vision outside the windows. Glass, wood or metal is typically used for making of the louvers. Depending on the structure of the hotel room, the inclination of louver will vary. However, the recommended angle is 45 degrees. These are preferred in a number of hotel rooms, especially in the attached bathrooms or changing rooms.

  • Casement windows

These windows are very widely used in the hotel industry. These are getting increasingly common. The frame is attached with shutters and can simply be closed or opened like door shutters. There are different design options when it comes to casement windows. Depending on the structural appearance of the hotel room, different kinds of casement windows are installed.

  • Corner windows

Corner windows are now getting increasingly popular within the hotel industry. These are installed in the corners of the hotel room. This means that two pieces of windows are installed in a perpendicular fashion. Resultantly, there is more air and light in the room. It even enhances the aesthetic appearance of the entire building.

  • Skylights

These are not much popular, however, can be a unique installation in a hotel room. These are normally installed on top of the roofs. Light can enter the room effectively. The skylights can be opened whenever more light is required. It is particularly ideal for those hotel structures where there are sloped roofs.

The bottom line

Above are some of the major types that can be installed in hotel rooms. However, it entirely depends on the type of hotel where installations are required. Some hotel may choose a casement window while some may prefer casement window. Combinations can also be preferred in order to give a unique and an interesting appearance. In any case, make sure you choose the right window installation company to do the job.
