5 Ways Students Can Use Their Car to Make Some Money and Pay for Future Travel

  • May 10, 2021
  • admin

There is nothing as convenient as having a car while in college because of the ease it brings. It is more of a luxury than a necessity, but having one is undoubtedly an advantage. for students with the travel bug it provides an amazing way to see the country and many sleep in their cars or even convert them into micro-campers (seen all over Instagram and You Tube).

However, cars are not easy to maintain. Between the insurance money, the constant and regular servicing, fueling, and all the other unexpected mechanical problems that can arise from time to time, it can be expensive for a student.

Fortunately, there are several ways for you to make money using your car. You get to enjoy the convenience of having a car and still make enough money for your pocket, and more importantly, your vehicle will cater to its expenses.

Here are five flexible side jobs to consider during your free time while in college.

1. Uber or Lyft

Companies like Uber and Lyft allow you to work as a taxi driver during your free time. Usually, Friday and Saturday nights are the most lucrative, with many people wanting to enjoy their free time with no responsibility of driving themselves back.

Rather than risking a DUI, a considerable percentage of students leave their cars at home and use these apps to find taxis. Other apps, like Uber and Amazon, also have deliveries for food, alcohol, and other things. Depending on the time you are clocking into your side hustle, you can choose between doing deliveries or taxi services. Either way, you will make money.

In the unfortunate case that youโ€™re in an accident, the settlement case may take some time, yet you rely on the returns from your vehicle. Luckily, there are solutions like a Nevada car accident loan, which might prevent the situation from crippling you financially.

2. Renting Your Car

While you attend to your studies and other related engagements, you may not use your car frequently. You can consider renting out your car for some extra cash. Renting your car is a lucrative way to make money while in college.

3. Advertising

Some people own cars but do not enjoy driving around as often as one should if they are doing taxi services or deliveries. If youโ€™re one of these, then advertising is a great way for you to make some extra money.

It is a simple process, a company brands your car, and you become a moving billboard. This idea is an excellent option because the rounds or trips you take are all personal. They allow you to be comfortable and not go too much out of your comfort zone.

4. Be a Safe Driver

This is such a fantastic way to make and save money at the same time. Did you know that insurance companies can pay you if you are a safe driver? It is similar to someone paying you for being healthy.

Some insurance companies will offer you fifty percent off of your annual payments because of driving safely and avoiding accidents for more than six months. Other companies have applications that show whether you are driving safely. Being a safe driver is the easiest way to make money using your car because all you have to do is be safe.

5. Elder Transit, Nannying, and Baby Sitting

There is so much money that comes from taking care of other people. Some are too old to drive themselves or too young to own a driverโ€™s license. Some senior people may need help to get to the hospital, or generally from one point to another.

If you are nannying or babysitting, parents may pay extra if you drive their kids to and from school or take them to the park. You can quickly get these jobs through advertising yourself or applying for the ones available on your college network.

From Pocket Drainer to a Moneymaker

Being a student in college allows you to explore different options to make money. With the free time and flexible timetables, you can easily turn your car into your great business instead of seeking part-time employment.

All the hustles in this article will allow you to enjoy the benefits and convenience of having a car. Whether it is driving safely, doing taxi and delivery services, or merely babysitting, your vehicle can easily provide a successful form of business. One that will help you avoid many student loans and spend your free time wisely.
