Perfect Thailand Trips in a Nutshell

  • June 1, 2012

Thailand is the place you always wanted to go without ever realising it. Thailand has a booming tourism industry set up to show off its wares to travelers. There are a huge variety of places to see, people to watch and fun to be had, you’ll be coming back for more for years to come!

Located in South-East Asia, Thailand boasts dense, lush rainforests and breathtaking coastlines. You can kayak on the Andaman Sea around Phang Nga Province, darting around tall limestone islands jutting out of the water, then trek north to Doi Inthanon National Park and climb Doi Inthanon, Thailand’s highest mountain shrouded in an evergreen rainforest.

Thailand is host to a long, fascinating history. There are preserved Buddhist temples built hundreds and some thousands of years ago. Wat Pho in Bangkok holds the Reclining Buddha, a golden statue 15m high and 43m long. Wat Pho is believed to be the birthplace of Thai massage. History is being made even today as King Rama IX continues his almost 66 year reign of the constitutional monarchy, making Kin Rama IX the longest reigning monarch and continuous head of state today.

Thailand gives you fantastic food and cuisine, traditionally balancing many tastes and senses into a meal. Thai chefs incorporate garlic, cilantro and nam pla, a world famous fish sauce, to create some of the best food in the world. Remember to bring your game face because Thai food is also famously spicy. It’s best to order a Singha beer or cha yen, a Thai iced tea, just in case.

Muay Thai is a popular sport originating is Thailand. Muay Thai is a form of kickboxing that traces its root back thousands of years. It was taught to Siamese troops as a way to fight if they ever lost their weapon in combat. Muay Thai has evolved over the past 150 years through codified laws and gained a larger appeal through the cinema and action movies. Two major stadiums in Bangkok, Rajadamnern Stadium and Lumphini Stadium, host Muay Thai matches.

Bangkok also holds large parks and green spaces which is impressive because Bangkok is one of the largest cities in the world. Lumphini Park, for example, is a 142 acre park that was given by King Rama VI to the people. It holds an artificial lake where people can rent boats.

And if you want to get a few rounds of golf in, Thailand is the perfect place to hit the green. Hua Hin Province is one of Asia’s most popular golfing locations. What are you waiting for, Thailand awaits you.
