The smartest ways to pack for a beach holiday

  • June 26, 2017
  • admin

Packing is probably the worst part of the holiday and many holiday goers can spend days pondering over a half packed suitcase. The trick to getting the most out of your holiday packing is not to get a bigger bag, but to be smarter with your packing techniques. With a few tips, it won’t be hard at all to pack a suitcase that has everything you’ll need and more for a fantastic beach holiday.

Pack right to fit in more

There is a packing technique that swept the nation some years ago, but there are still a few people that have yet to discover its genius. Rather than folding your clothes in your suitcase and stuff things into the crevices that are left over, consider rolling up your clothes. Rolling your clothes takes up less space and reduces creasing.

Put your essentials and valuables in your carry-on

Don’t put anything you can’t afford to lose in your luggage .While it’s not very likely that your bag will be stolen or lost, you never know what your chances are, so it’s better to be safe than sorry. Keep your money, your documents, your tech, your chargers, your medications, your contact lenses etc. in your carry-on bag and don’t let them out of your sight.

Pack more of what you’ll need and less of what you won’t

For example, you probably don’t need a pair of shoes for every day of your holiday, but you will need more than one bottle of sun cream. Be cutthroat with your decisions when you’re packing and stock up on more of what’s important and less of what isn’t. You should always pack more underwear and sun cream than you expect you’ll need and narrow down your clothes to only a couple of outfits.

Pack clothes to mix and match

Packing a different outfit for every day of your holiday is a waste of space – especially if you plan to spend most of your time at the beach. To save on packing space and to make the most out of your clothes, pack clothes than you can mix and match to get different outfits. For a beach holiday, rather than packing a different pair of swim shorts for every day, consider buying one or two pairs of good quality swimming shorts and change up your outfit by pairing them with different t-shirts and accessories.

Pack a few plastic bags

The only downside to a day of fun at the beach is the aftermath. After racing back and forth between the ocean and the sand, you’re probably going to be covered in sand and the saltwater, which doesn’t make for a pleasant journey home if you don’t have a spare set of clothes. Otherwise, you have the problem of putting your wet and dirty clothes in your beach bag only to find your bag covered in sand and salt stains. Packing a few plastic bags can save you from all of the typical messes of the beach. You can put your dirty beach clothes in them to keep them from dirtying your bag or you can put them on the car seats to avoid dirtying the car if you don’t have a change of clothes. You can also put your shoes in them when you pack them to avoid getting your clothes dirty and use them to separate your dirty clothes from your clean clothes in your suitcase.
