Historical sites

The ancient ruins declared UNESCO World Heritage Sites are scattered across the country. They tell a story of the rich heritage and culture that shaped this land. 

Mada’in Salih

This archaeological site has over 130 monumental tombs carved into the sandstone cliffs. It is also referred to as the ‘Sister city’ of Petra. As you walk through the site, you will be surprised by the intricate facades and the sheer scale of the ancient structures. You can get breathtaking views of the golden hues of the rock during sunset.  

Al-Ula

It is home to significant historic sites and natural wonders. Its landscape is filled with sandstone formations and ancient rock art. The remnants of the old town tell about its rich history. This place is also known for the Al-Ula Heritage site, which has Nabatean tombs and the Elephant rock. You can take a guided tour to learn about these ancient treasures. Diriyah

It is the original home of the royal Saudi family. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has beautifully restored mudbrick houses which showcase the Najdi architecture. As you walk down the narrow streets, you can get a glimpse into the past. Also, visit the At-Turaif district, where you can explore the ruins of palaces and mosques dating back to the 18th century. The city of the future – NEOM

It is one of the most ambitious projects in the world. It is a futuristic city being built in the northwestern region of Saudi Arabia. It has an area of 10,000 square miles and aims to be a model city for sustainable living and eco-friendly practices. It is a city entirely powered by renewable energy with advanced transport and a focus on biodiversity. It is still under construction and offers an example of urban living. 

Kingdom Centre Tower

It is located in Riyadh and is one of the tallest buildings in Saudi Arabia. It is 302 meters tall and features a skybridge which offers 360-degree views of the city. Head to the observation desk at sunset and watch the city transform into the golden hues of the evening sky. It is a perfect spot for photos.

Red Sea Project

This project aims to build a luxury tourist destination along the pristine coastline of the Red Sea. The project will feature resorts, entertainment avenues, eco-tourism activities and more. It will also preserve the natural beauty of the area. It will become a paradise for adventure seekers as it has crystal clear waters and vibrant coral reefs. It has some of the best spots for diving.

Rub’’ al Khali – The Empty Quarter

It is the largest sand desert in the world. You can experience the beauty of the dunes, with some reaching a height of over 250 meters. To explore this place, take a desert safari, which offers sandboarding, camel riding, and watching the sunset, which paints the sky into hues of pink and red. 

Asir National Park

It is situated in the northwestern region of Saudi Arabia and is famous for its diverse wildlife, stunning mountain views and hiking trails. It is home to flora and fauna, which makes it a perfect spot for nature lovers. Also, visit Al-Soudah village, where you can enjoy traditional cuisine.

Best cities 

Riyadh

It is the capital of Saudi Arabia and has modern malls, luxury hotels, museums and cultural centres. You will also find traditional souks here. Top attractions are the Kingdom Centre Towers and the National Museum of Saudi Arabia.

Jeddah

It is known for its Red Sea coastline and relaxed atmosphere. Here, you will find historic coral houses, waterfront cafes and world-class diving facilities. Visit the Al Balad district to explore the ancient architecture, narrow alleys and culture. 

Mecca

It is the birthplace of the Prophet Muhammad and offers a spiritual experience. Millions of pilgrims visit this palace for Hajj and Umrah. It is centred around prayer and is a sacred palace for Muslims around the world.

Madina

It is known for its religious importance and is open to Muslims all around the world. Prophet Muhammad was buried at this place.. The stunning Al-Masjid an-Nawabi Mosque is located here.

Abha

If you are looking for natural beauty and cooler temperatures, then you should visit this place. Here, you will find green mountains and peaceful parks. The Asir National Park and the hanging village of Habala are must-see attractions.
