  • April 28, 2025

Spain is an amazing place to visit. There is so much to see and do all over Spain that you will never be bored when you visit. You have so many chances to make memories in Spain, and one of the things you should take the time to do is head to a football game. Football matches are a ton of fun and offer you access to a lot of amazing experiences that you cannot have at sporting events of other kinds.

Real Madrid tickets can allow you to enjoy an amazing football game where you watch talented players compete in an environment that is so engaging that you will have a blast from start to finish. Football matches are incredibly exciting, and they are a great way to enjoy Spain like a local.

Things to do in Spain

1. See the Alhambra

The Alhambra is a world-famous UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most incredible examples of Moorish architecture anywhere in the world. Originally a palace and fortress, this incredible monument to the Moorish period in Spain is in Granada. The palace space was built in the 11th century and later modified and added to.

The sprawling footprint of the building shows Spanish Renaissance architecture as well, and there are even later additions to the building from the 17th century. You can wander here for hours, being wowed at every turn.

2. Visit the Gothic Quarter in Barcelona

The Gothic Quarter is in the heart of Barcelona, and it offers you the chance to walk along narrow medieval streets and pop into cute little shops. This is a romantic and memorable place, and well worth your time if you are not staying right in the area already. Barcelona is one of the most impressive cities in Spain, and a trip to check it out should be on your list no matter what else you are up to during your trip.

The cathedral at the heart of the Gothic Quarter is one of the most impressive in the world and you will also want to check out the Pont del Bisbe and a few other landmarks while you are in this city.

3. Royal Alcazar of Seville

The palace in Seville is considered by some to be just as fine an example of Spanish history as the Alhambra. This dreamy and absolutely beautiful structure offers you access to lovely courtyard gardens, Moorish architecture, and 14th-century history. The location was a royal residence for generations, but the most important parts of the building date to the 14th century as they are so well-preserved.

This is technically a group of palaces that are all surrounded by a wall, which makes the compound truly unique. Make sure that you have enough time to walk around and see everything during your visit.

4. Check Out Local Markets

Spain is a great place to head out to a street market to enjoy delicious food and drink, and to look at handmade goods. There are almost always performers among the stalls, and the festive atmosphere of these markets is incredible. Many of the markets in the major cities are permanent and are open most days of the week, but some of the local markets are only open during specific times and on specific days.

You can ask the hotel staff or locals when the market is open and what you should try when you visit, so that you can be sure that you have a truly authentic experience.

5. See a Flamenco Show

Flamenco is practically the national dance of Spain, and this beautiful, culturally important dance is very exciting to watch. Flamenco shows typically also involve dinner and drinks, so you will want to reserve your tickets at a location a bit in advance so that you are prepared to enjoy everything that the show has to offer.

Being able to sit close to the action while having delicious food is truly special. Many people state that the Flamenco show they saw is one of their favorite things that they have ever done.

6. Head to the Coast

The coastal towns in Spain are a truly memorable experience. There is both a Mediterranean and an Atlantic coast to visit, and the towns on these different coasts have different vibes. Be sure to enjoy the beach, go shopping, and just generally relax. Many people book a couple of days at the coast during their trip around Spain so that they can truly make the most of this important aspect of what Spain has to offer.

If you love to party, you will find that beach life in Spain is filled with chances to stay out late and dance under the stars. You will also find posh and comfortable resorts that will pamper you or you might opt to stay at a cute local hotel and wander to the beach each day after being pampered by the hotel staff during breakfast. There are so many things to do in the coastal areas of Spain that you should be sure to try and fit a visit to these areas into your travel plans.
