Luxury Spring Escapes: Indulgent Retreats for a Stylish Getaway

  • April 11, 2025

Spring is one of the best times to explore the world at its most beautiful. There are not only less tourists than in summer, but it’s a time when much of the planet is ‘in bloom’. Better yet, prices tend to be lower for more luxury escapes at this time of year.

If you’re after a luxurious and indulgent break, you don’t necessarily have to spend a fortune. The season of spring itself can help add a feeling of luxury to all kinds of settings. Pure Travel has a wealth of ideas on our travel blog to spark your imagination.

Whether you’re after a cultural odyssey, wish to feel that warm sea breeze, or fancy relaxing in the countryside, here are some excellent choices at this time of year:

Spring Holidays - The Amalfi Coast, Italy

The Amalfi Coast, Italy

By this time of year, the Amalfi Coast begins to stir from its winter slumber. Cliffside villages like Postiano, Ravello and Amalfi are like bee hives beginning to buzz with life, yet without the crowds swamping them in summer.

Bougainvillaea explodes into bloom, whilst the sea is just about warm enough for a dip.

If you’re after a stylish getaway, you might want to stay in one of the hotels perched high on the coast. Many have breathtaking panoramic views, with infinity pools that offer a unique experience. Then, of course, there’s that famous Italian hospitality.

Many people like to cruise the coastline on a private boat, and dine on fresh seafood by candlelight as the sun sets into the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Kyoto, Japan

Cherry blossom season in Japan is famous among travellers for a reason. It’s evanescent, but that only makes it even more magical. Kyoto is a delight not just for its cherry blossom trees, but its ancient temples and peaceful gardens. It’s one of the finest places on the planet to spot the sakura in bloom.

Kyoto, Japan

However, by this point, you will need to be quick: the season typically peaks from late March to early April. However, this part of Japan is still worth visiting in May and summer.

The Cotswolds, England

For a more peaceful yet equally luxurious escape, the Cotswolds can’t be beaten. From rolling verdant hills to honey-coloured cottages and charming country inns, this part of Britain is well-loved by those who love a taste of luxury.

At this time of year, lambs frolic in the fields and gardens explode with daffodils and tulips.

Take long walks through the meadows bursting with wildflowers, browse antiques in the old-world villages, or cosy up with afternoon tea by an open fire.

Paris, France

Henry Miller once wrote, “When spring comes to Paris, the humblest mortal alive must feel that he dwells in paradise.’ It’s a time when the chestnut trees are in leaf and cafe terraces begin to feel like a Degas, Manet or Renoir painting.

Paris, France

Great places to stay include the Cheval Blanc Paris, which is known for offering new standards in ultra-luxury. It provides stunning views of the Eiffel tower, Dior spa treatments and Michelin-starred dining.

You might want to visit Monet’s gardens at Giverny, shop in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, or enjoy a picnic at sunset in the Luxembourg Gardens.

Marrakech, Morocco

Spring is one of the best times to visit Morocco, just before the desert heat sets in. Marrakech offers a heady blend of ancient tradition and stylish modern living, from its exciting souks (marketplaces) to its luxurious riads and rooftop lounges.

Santorini, Greece

Before the summer crowds take over, Santorini is at its most charming and peaceful.

The blue-domed churches, whitewashed houses and blazing sunsets make it one of the most photogenic places in the world.

If you’re after a stylish, luxury break, why not take a wine tour of the island’s volcanic vineyards? Or sail to the hot springs? Alternatively, simply watch the sun sink into the Aegean with a glass of Assyrtiko in hand.

Seville, Spain

Spring in Seville is an unforgettable site. The city’s famous Semana Santa (Holy Week) and Feria de Abril (April Fair) are cultural indulgences like no other. You will get to witness processions resplendent with colours and flamencos.

If you want a high end break, the Hotel Alfonso XIII is an incredible choice. A Moorish Revival masterpiece, it’s known for its opulent interiors and captivating courtyards.

Take a horse-drawn carriage through the historic centre, share tapas under the orange trees, and admire the Alcázar’s tiled halls and fragrant gardens.

The Algarve, Portugal

If you’re after sweeping golden beaches and luxury resorts, the Algarve is an underrated gem during this season. By April, temperatures are lovely and the region is in full bloom. It’s a fantastic place if you love enjoying a spa day, or exploring the coastline and finding hidden coves and sea caves.

Luxury doesn’t always have to mean splashing out. Sometimes it’s about taking your time in beautiful surroundings, sharing sumptuous food, and creating experiences that linger in the memory.

Spring offers the sweet spot between winter’s end and chaos  of summer, so it’s a good chance to escape and recharge.
