  • Robert

A trip to the Sunshine Coast is a great idea for couples, families, or even groups of friends. With countless activities from swimming at the beach to eating local cuisine, it is not hard to make a stacked itinerary. If you are beginning to plan your holiday check out this list of fun activities to help you get ready for your perfect getaway to the Sunshine Coast.

Water Activities

With the word coast in the name, the Sunshine Coast is most well-known for its miles of beautiful beaches. With some of the best beaches in Australia, you are bound to have several lovely beach days whether you choose to go to big popular beaches or smaller, secluded ones.

While enjoying your beach day, you can even sign up for some surf lessons to get out on the water and get some exercise. Surfing offers a different perspective and allows beginners to get out and test their strength and balance.

If surfing is a bit too overwhelming for you and your family, you can rent body boards that you can paddle out into the water on and gently ride the waves to the shore. No standing is required. Most beach town rental shops will have them for hire as well as other fun beach toys that will keep you and your family entertained all day long.

Land Activities

If you’re looking for a mix of beach days and land days, then the Sunshine Coast offers a wide variety of entertaining activities that are not beach-related. From hiking around national parks to hitting a driving range on the Sunshine Coast, there is much in store for lovers of all kinds of sports. This region of Australia boasts five big national parks that offer everything from mountain trekking to wildlife spotting, bushwalking, and waterfall hunting.

If after a few days the sunny climate of the Australian Eastern coast becomes too overwhelming, you and your family can take refuge in an indoor driving range where you can hit some golf balls, enjoy some cool drinks, and still feel like you are outside with realistic projection screens to hit into. There are even kids training programs if your kids want to improve their swing while you enjoy a cocktail at the sports bar.

What to Eat and Drink

The Sunshine Coast has many renowned cafes and restaurants offering local fare. Being right on the water, many restaurants are known for their fresh-caught seafood. Australia is also home to many immigrant communities, so you can find all kinds of authentic global cuisines to suit your fancy while vacationing. When it comes to drinks, the Sunshine Coast has a growing craft beverages scene with everything from craft beers to craft ciders to quench your thirst after a long day in the sun. Many breweries offer great farm-to-table menus as well, so yu can find something great to eat on every day of your trip.

The perfect getaway to the Sunshine Coast is not hard to plan because the area offers so much in regard to activities and entertainment. From surfing to hiking, you can find the perfect activities to appease everyone in your family. Start planning your trip today and use this list as a guide to get you going.
