Barcelona is an elegant, romantic and dynamic city. Architecture, gastronomy and nature make it popular for travel. For a holiday for two in Barcelona, you can choose to go on excursions, visit restaurants or go for walks. It’s all about finding something to do that suits your mood.
Watch the sunset from the observation deck
There are more than ten observation decks in Barcelona. One of the most visited is the Bunkers Del Carmel. The site provides an overall view encompassing streets, buildings, mountains and the seashore. In clear weather, the scenery from here is magical and unique.
Tourists come here for the views, and locals sometimes arrange picnics here. It is also a place of historical significance. During the Civil War, there were defensive structures here. They were then dismantled and a good observation point appeared in their place.
Fly by helicopter
If it is difficult to get around the sights of Barcelona, you can explore them from a helicopter. The roofs of tall buildings are so close during an aerial ride, as if you could touch them with your hand. Sightseeing helicopter rides in Barcelona allow you to see the sail-shaped hotel, the Sagrada Familia Cathedral, the Agbar Tower, the Montjuic Fortress and other interesting structures. Even the “square” quarters of the Eixample and the sea waves look amazing from a bird’s-eye view.
Take an amusement ride
At the Tibidabo amusement park, you can ride an open-air Ferris wheel, experience an “airplane simulator” or choose a high-speed roller coaster.
The park is located in an interesting place. It is built on Mount Tibidabo, the highest point of the city. It is also home to one of the observation decks, the operating Catholic Church of the Sacred Heart and the futuristic Collcerola TV tower. Climbing the TV tower will help you see Barcelona from a new angle.
You can climb Mount Tibidabo by a comfortable bus from the city center. There is also another way of getting there, which is more interesting. First you have to take a tram that goes to the middle of the mountain. There you will have the opportunity to change to the funicular railway going to the amusement park.
Try Catalan delicacies
Exploring Barcelona may not be complete without tasting local dishes. Catalan cuisine is diverse in taste and composition, so you can find vegetable, meat and fish recipes on the menu of city cafes. Many restaurants operate on a first-come, first-served basis: you do not need to book a table in advance.
The list of traditional Barcelona dishes includes Black Rice with seafood, Escalivada salad with roasted peppers and eggplants, nourishing Butifarra sausage and delicate Catalan Cream dessert.
Have dinner at the observatory
There are two types of excursions at the Fabra Observatory – both day and night. Excursions are scheduled. The observatory also offers a romantic kind of rest – dinner under the stars. This entertainment is available in the warmer months of the year.
Dinner takes place on the outdoor terrace with evening lighting. Guests are offered several menu options. It differs in the composition and cost of the dishes. The programme is complemented by a lecture on astronomy. After dinner, there is an opportunity to look through a telescope to observe the stars.
Visit the Picasso Museum
Barcelona is home to a museum with paintings by Pablo Picasso. The collection contains works from the artist’s early period. The paintings demonstrate how Picasso’s style was formed and developed.
The exhibits are set in old mansions in the Gothic Quarter area. Therefore, visitors to the museum can also see the architecture of the Middle Ages.
