3 Tips For Packing For Cold Weather Destinations

  • April 8, 2024
  • Robert

If you’ll soon be visiting a destination that has a cold climate, there are a few things that you’re going to want to consider as you’re packing.

Usually, when you’re going to be spending a lot of time in a cold environment, you’re going to want to wear a lot of clothes. But when you’re packing for a trip, most people try to pack as little as possible so that they don’t have to pay for extra baggage or have to lug a bunch of luggage around. So how are you supposed to pack when you’re having to deal with these opposing sides?

To help you in figuring this out, here are three tips for packing for cold weather destinations.

Wear Your Biggest Items On The Plane

To keep you warm when in cold weather, you’re going to want to wear some larger items that will give you the insulation you need. However, you don’t want to have to waste a lot of your luggage space on these items.

One way you can get what you need to your destination without having to pack it in a bag is to wear it on the plane. This is usually ideal for things like winter boots or larger coats and outerwear. While not particularly comfortable to bring with you on a plane, if you wear these items, you won’t have to worry about packing them in a bag.

Pack Items With Great Insulation

If you’re not used to being in a cold climate and you’re not exactly sure that you should be packing in the first place, you should look for items that will provide you with great insulation.

While you can pack big, puffy items that have a lot of insulation built into them, you can also pack a lot of lighter layers that you’ll plan to just wear on top of each other. Especially if you plan on being outside and in the elements, you may want to wear a few lighter layers on the bottom and have a waterproof or wind-resistant layer on top to give your clothes protection from wind, snow, and ice.

Don’t Forget Your Winter Skin Care

If your skin isn’t acclimated to cold weather, you’re going to want to make sure that you pack skin care items that will help to protect you during your time spent in this cold destination.

Whether you plan on being outside much or not, you should plan to bring sunscreen and moisturizer, as the cold air and the sunlight can have big impacts on your skin. You may also want to bring a hydrating spray for your skin and eye drops to help if your eyes end up feeling dry and scratchy as well.

If you’ll soon be visiting a cold weather destination, consider implementing the tips mentioned above to help you in packing for this excursion.
