A new year represents new beginnings for many people. Wherever you’re currently based in the world, you may sometimes wonder whether there’s somewhere better to live that can offer a richer, fuller life.

If you’re having these thoughts, then why not choose the UK as your next destination to live? If you’re already considering it, then the next step would be to speak to immigration lawyers. Need convincing? Keep reading for 8 reasons to immigrate to the UK in 2023…

  1. Excellent schooling options for all ages

The idea of higher education derives from the UK, and it houses some of the best universities in the world. That means if you’re looking to pursue higher education, then the UK provides the best options.

There’s also the option to send children to either public school or private school, depending on your preference. All schools in the UK teach English as well as other languages, which can be beneficial for children as it gives them a bilingual skillset.

  1. The UK welcomes diversity

The UK is very multicultural and many British traditions originate from having such diverse communities. This is particularly noticeable in major cities such as London, which is known for being one of the most culturally diverse cities in the world.

  1. Cheaper healthcare

Many people who relocate from abroad have varied experiences with healthcare services. Often, those who live outside the UK will have expensive medical care to consider. In the UK, residents have access to the National Health Service which has been established since 1948 and offers free healthcare.

Prescriptions are available at a low cost in England and are even free in places like Wales. You can find more information on migrant entitlements here.

  1. Excellent transport links

The UK has excellent transport links throughout the country, meaning you can explore and visit many parts of the UK easily. It also means you don’t have to live in a city centre in order to access work. In fact, many people in the UK use public transport to commute to other cities for their jobs.

  1. Variety of places to settle

The UK is made up of four very unique places: Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and England. The majority of those looking to settle in the UK automatically think of London as the prime location to be, but there’s a range of other options available for those seeking a quieter lifestyle.

Whilst London offers a lot for immigrants and diverse communities, other major cities shouldn’t be ruled out. Consider other capitals around the UK such as Cardiff, Belfast, Edinburgh, or even cities in the North of England. If you’re not keen on moving to a city, then there also many rural locations in the countryside or coastal areas that offer a vibrant way of life.

  1. British Citizenship comes with full rights

If you live in the UK for more than 5 years, you can apply for British citizenship. British citizenship grants you access to many benefits, including complete rights to work and a lifelong right to live in the UK. It also means you’d have a UK passport which would allow you travel in and out the UK as you please, without the need for any visas.

  1. Career opportunities

With remote working in the UK becoming increasingly popular, migrants no longer have to restrict themselves to London or other major cities in order to secure a career. Many London jobs are now available to work remotely, giving you the option to work from anywhere in the UK.

Not only this, but there are many job opportunities for immigrants who speak multiple languages as businesses in the UK branch out internationally.

Moving to the UK in 2023…

It’s clear that there are many benefits of moving to the UK. Excellent schooling options means either yourself or your children can have a fresh start in your education. Not to mention the variety of areas available to choose from. Whether it’s in the countryside, city or the coast, the UK offers all.

If you’re seriously considering a move, then make sure you seek professional advice to ensure you have all bases covered. There’s usually a fair amount of paperwork and visas to consider which can get confusing quickly. Immigration professionals can help make the process clear and straightforward for you and your family.
