What are the most Popular Locations for a Proposal?

  • November 14, 2022
  • Jules

A proposal is an important thing. For most of us, it’s the most important and emotionally charged question we’ll ever ask (or be asked). And ideally, we’ll only ask it once. As such, there’s an understandable desire to get everything set up perfectly. We want to do it at the ideal time of day, when both parties are in the best possible mood, at the ideal place, and with the ideal ring. On this latter point, an experienced jeweller will be able to provide some advice. On other points, like the location, you’ll want to do some of your own research.

While there’s nothing stopping you from proposing marriage just about anywhere in the world, certain cities stand out as perfect for a proposal. You might book a table at a fancy restaurant – or a less fancy (though still high-quality) one. You might take a seemingly-impromptu trip up to a vantage point, from where you can take in the sweeping romance of your surroundings, and pop the question.

The precise method, we’ll leave to you. Let’s first take a look at some of the key options.

New York, USA

Arguably the most culturally significant city anywhere in the world, New York provides a winning balance between the familiar and the exotic. It’s famous for never sleeping, and you’ll often find that it looks best lit up at night – especially if you’re looking at it from the top of a downtown Manhattan skyscraper.

Venice, Italy

This Italian city is famous for its romantic appeal, with couples often making a trip along the many waterways courtesy of a gondola. Since the city is spread over more than a hundred different islands, you won’t get the same sense of bustle and connectivity that you get elsewhere. This is part of what gives this part of Italy its unique appeal.

Paris, France

If you were to ask most people what the most romantic city in the world is, then Paris would probably top the list. It’s packed with famous landmarks and locations, along with some of the world’s best restaurants. Travel there when tourist season isn’t quite in full swing: you’ll save money, and avoid the crowds.

Bali, Indonesia

If you’re going to make the trip to the Pacific, you’ll be rewarded with sights and sounds that you can’t find anywhere else in the world. Indonesia is a tropical paradise, and Bali is where you’ll find some of the best experiences and hotels. Gorgeous sunsets over the crystal-blue ocean: what better backdrop for an important question?

Cliffs of Moher, Ireland

Arguably the most impressive natural wonder in Ireland, the Cliffs of Moher provide unparallel views of the Atlantic. From the edge, you’ll be able to hear the boom of the waves against the shale and sandstone below. Visit at sunset for the best possible backdrop for your proposal.
