It does not have to cost a fortune to visit New York City, it’s all about how you travel and what you want to experience. New York City is without a destination everybody should experience in their lifetime, with lots to offer and unforgettable attractions. Here’s how to see the famous city on a budget.

Accommodation in NYC

If you want to save money on your trip to NYC, you might want to consider getting a budget hotel instead of the fancy five-star ones. Depending on where you want to stay, prices can differ. Many travelers want to experience Manhattan and the Upper East Side as well, but you could also consider Queens, for more budget options.

Another way to also save money on accommodation in case your flight arrives way before checking in is to use luggage Storage in the city. Instead of walking around with your bags and waiting several hours you can easily use one of these useful storage places. For more info, please read this Luggage Storage guide NYC.

 Getting around

Getting around NYC, as you see it in the movies with taxis, might be hard on your travel budget, if doing it all the time. The cheapest way of getting around would be with the subway. Consider buying a travel pass, which you can use for a longer period to save even more money.

Enjoy the free attractions

It’s always a good idea to check out different guides on what to experience for free when you go somewhere. In New York, you can enjoy a stroll through the beautiful Central Park. Taking the ferry to Staten Island is also a completely free experience to do. From Staten Island, you can enjoy the magnificent skyline of NYC. If you still want to experience some New Yorker luxury, window shopping on Fifth Avenue will not cost you anything either. If you like animals, make sure you do a tour at The Bronx Zoo. Admission is also free here, so what’s not to like?

Eating cheap in New York

Street food is very popular in New York, and you will be able to find some real treats there. New York is famous for many foodwise reasons, so trying out both pizzas and sandwiches is a must. For cheap eats, check out different lists online, so you can find the best ones. Make sure you also have a bagel at some point.
