Utah has long been one of the best states to visit and explore due to its scenic beauty and wide range of outdoor activities. Cities located in Northern Utah offer experiences and access to ski areas, urban lifestyles, mountain adventures, and great amenities. When you move to the southern part of Utah, you will find different landscapes, where you can enjoy outdoor basecamps surrounded by red rock scenery and memorable vistas.

Each city offers unique dining options, entertainment, lodging, and activities across the state. In addition, there are friendly locals everywhere you go. Here are the four best cities to visit in Utah and enjoy.

  1. St George

Utah’s warm-weather retreat, the city of St. George, sits below the rim of the Great Basin and near Zion National Park and Grand Canyon, making it a perfect destination for tourists. The striking valley combines evolutionary land features from the neighboring basin and Colorado Plateau with the landscapes and the Mojave Desert wildlife. If you want to know what to do in St George, you can enjoy some amazing activities, such as biking, boating, hiking, camping, rocking, and ATVing.

  1. Ogden

Ogden is a well-known city in Utah and has advanced a reputation as an outdoor recreation center in the last two decades. Being the first European settlement in Utah, the city has a lively historic district to explore and serves as a gateway to some of the state’s best ski resorts.

Most tourists visit Ogden for outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain climbing, biking, and skiing. After you have enjoyed your boating, riding the slopes, and trip hiking the trails, you can stroll historic 19th-century buildings. There are also numerous art galleries, museums, shops, and restaurants where you can hike and dine in Ogden.

  1. Salt Lake City

Salt Lake City is the capital and biggest city in Utah. It boasts historical and cultural sites, sublime nature, outdoor recreation activities, arresting scenery, and landscapes. The city sits between the Great Salt Lake and the large Wasatch mountains and offers a great view of nature for everyone to enjoy.

The main tourist attraction in Salt Lake City is the huge Temple Square which lies at its heart and is well known for being home to the Mormon Church headquarters. You can find beautiful architecture, historic buildings, monuments, and a museum here.

Apart from stopping by its temple and tabernacle, you may also visit its prominent State Capitol and City-County Building, which has numerous museums on its lounging university campus. In addition, you can enjoy some hiking, camping, and skiing in the nearby mountains.

  1. Provo

Provo is the third biggest city in the state and sits only forty minutes’ drive south of Salt Lake City near the great Utah Lake. The city boasts of waterfalls, scenic drives, towering mountains, lush greens, and friendly locals and mainly acts as a base for visiting the nearby nature sites and national parks.

Some of the best places to visit in Provo are the Rock Canyon, Provo Canyon, BYU Museum of Paleontology, Bridal Veil Falls, and Splash Summit Waterpark. All these places offer some stunning and great outdoor activities, such as hiking and skiing.

Endnote

Utah is an outdoor lover’s dream. The state offers ample opportunity to connect with nature with its natural wonders and outdoor activities. Visit these cities when you visit Utah and make your vacation more fun and memorable.
