#2 The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn

Author: Mark Twain

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is a novel written by Mark Twain that was published in December 1884 as a sequel to The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. The novel is well-known for its vivid depiction of people and locations along the Mississippi River. It is set in antebellum Southern culture and features a youngster named Huck as he flees his violent father and travels down the Mississippi River. He meets Jim, an escaped slave, and goes downriver with him. They eventually pick up two conmen. They hand over Jim to another slave owner after exposing them. Huck and his friend Tom Sawyer attempt, but fail, to save Jim. Later, it is revealed that Jim’s prior owner died, freeing him. Huck decides not to return home and to go about wandering instead.
