Are You Traveling? Here Are Some Portable Streaming Devices To Keep You Entertained

  • March 24, 2022
  • Jules

Nowadays, streaming has become easy. You can still enjoy your favorites on the go, unlike when we had cables or wires and metals to pick signals (TV antenna).

But, there are plenty of portable streaming devices, which make it hard to get the best pick.

If you’re looking forward to traveling and don’t want to miss your next episode, on The Mandalorian or Encore, we have you covered.

Some of the portable devices available include Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Roku among others. For instance, you can watch Disney Plus on Roku which works so well on Roku Streaming Stick+.

No one wants to be stuck with the high prices for cable fees, and now everyone seems to flee to online streaming. It’s much fun to have the ability to enjoy Iron man to Endgame on your vacation. Whether a millennial or older adult, streaming technology has got everyone covered.

However, we have rounded up the 3 best that will keep you connected and offer you the best streaming experience for your TV series, movies, from HBO Max, Netflix, Disney Plus, and much more as you travel.

Want to stream on the go?

Here is the deal:

1. Roku

There are quite a few portable Roku streaming devices to choose from. Roku products are well known for their performance and good value for money. They are also great for seniors. The device allows you to stream thousands of streaming services such as Disney+, Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, or even the Roku streaming channel.

With Roku, you can have private listening, which allows you to stream your audio to your headphones. It can be activated or deactivated once you tap on your headphone icon. If you find sound issues with Disney Plus, you can remove the channel and update the Roku device. Once done, you should restart the device and add the channel back.

Roku options

Your selection depends on what you want to watch or listen to. When it comes to selection, Roku has the 4 best options, namely: Streaming Stick+, Premiere, Roku Express, Roku Ultra.

Roku Express is the cheapest, great for first-time streamers, as it offers HD resolution. The Premiere is a bit high in terms of prices. Besides, it’s suitable for 4K and HDR.

The best portable option is the Streaming Stick+, offering good value for your money.  If you purchase, you should ask for the HDMI cable. The device has a sturdy WIFI booster; you don’t have to work for weak wireless signals. It also supports 4K and offers private listening. You experience smooth streaming.

If you have extra cash, you can go for Ultra LT. This device comes with added extras. It has expandable storage and an Ethernet port, and you can still use it for private listening.

2. Google Chromecast

Google Chromecast supports most of the streaming apps; over 6500 apps. You also get what you want much faster, seniors may find it somehow tricky to use.  But, it offers the best experience when streaming your favorite shows and movies from your phone, tablet, PC, and more.

Google Chromecast options

You can choose from three different models: Google Chromecast, Chromecast Ultra, which may no longer be available at the Google Store, and Google Chromecast with Google TV.

Google Chromecast supports 4K HDR video. Again, with Google Chrome cast, you only need to plug it in and connect to your WIFI, and you will be ready to stream your content from Netflix, Hulu, Spotify, etc.

For the Google Chromecast with Google TV, you only need to plug it out from your TV and take it with you as you travel. The device comes with a Google Assistant voice search that greatly assists when finding movies or shows.

Also, it supports Dolby Digital, Digital Plus and Atmos. These features offer pictures with better quality and immersive sound, respectively.

If you are happy streaming from your smartphone, you can use Chromecast. It’s also the best for beginners.

3. Amazon Fire TV Stick

Amazon Fire TV Stick is one of the fastest devices you can take while traveling. The device lets you watch most streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, Peacock, Paramount, and other streaming apps. Besides, you can also connect with other Amazon smart devices such as Amazon Echo.

With the device, you can mirror your Android phone to enjoy your favorite shows, documentaries, and movies. This is easy; you only need to download the Amazon Fire Stick app on your phone. It’s one unique device that you can mirror without any WIFI

Fire Stick options

You have four options to select from, the Fire TV Stick, the Lite that allows for HD streaming, 4K  that allows you to get better quality pictures and sound, and the 4K Max, which adds WIFI 6 wireless connection. Plus, it also supports Dolby Vision.

When compared with Apple TV, which is not on our list, Amazon Fire TV Stick has almost similar streaming features. You can prefer getting the latter which gives better value for your money.

Wrapping Up

The feeling of having a streaming device packed in your suitcases for your travel is unexplainable.

However, picking up the best portable streaming device will boil down to your personal preference and your pocket. You don’t have excuses for why you should leave your Hunter Game series halfway as you travel; you have the solution to enjoy your favorite streaming content.
