Whether you’re a family looking to have some vacation time together or a couple looking to book your next holiday, you’ll find that there are plenty of things to keep you busy during your stay on Marco Island, Florida.
Of course, whether you’re staying for a day or week-long trip, there is sure to be something for everyone!
Let’s take a look at 7 cool things to do while visiting Marco Island:
1) Rent a Boat
Marco Island boat rentals are a fun and different way to explore the Island. If you’re looking to be the captain of your own adventures, consider renting a boat and making your own way around town. After all, getting there is half the fun!
2) Rent a Bike
Whether you’re looking to get in some exercise or just want to check out some of your island surroundings, there are several different types of bikes available for rent on Marco Island. This includes everything from mountain bikes to beach cruisers.
Renting a bike is an affordable way to spend time here at what often feels like one big park. And don’t forget to bring a hat! The Florida sun is pretty intense, especially when it shines directly down upon you as you pedal along.
You won’t regret it though—the whole town has a great small-town vibe that makes it feel like one big block party. Let’s go Dutch!
3) Visit Butterfly Estates
If you’re looking for a little more adventure, then a trip to Butterfly Estates is a great choice. It’s an all-inclusive attraction that features guided tours of butterfly sanctuaries and plenty of photo opportunities.
Plus, if you purchase your tickets online in advance (which is recommended), they’ll give you access to some introductory courses on butterfly gardening.
4) Eat at Our Local Restaurants
Locals always seem to know the best restaurants. No matter what you’re looking for, Marco Island has a restaurant to match. From small eateries to steakhouses and seafood restaurants, no matter your food preferences or style of dining, you’ll find something on Marco Island.
Here are some of our favorites: Marco Island Pizza, Lucky’s On The Water, and Dockside Bar & Grill just to name a few. If you’re new to town and looking for places that always deliver, then these spots should be at the top of your list!
5) Go Live on Stage!
Testing, testing… Is this thing on? Catch a play at The Playhouse on Marco, or see some free live music over at White Buffalo Bar & Grill. Music is an integral part of Marco Island’s social life, so you can almost always find some kind of live music here.
Check out bands at Lone Palm Blues Café on Friday nights or at Tropics Bar & Grill on Saturday afternoons. You can even rent a boat to get to the Tropics if you’re feeling adventurous. And did we mention that your night might include free drinks? Whatever your taste in entertainment is, Marco has something for everyone!
6) Watch Dolphins Swim Up Close
The Marco Island Visitors Center runs a Dolphin Cruise that allows visitors to get up close and personal with bottlenose dolphins. This is one of our favorite things to do, and we’re positive it will be one of yours too! Dolphins are naturally curious creatures, so they’ll often swim right up to your boat for closer inspection. Don’t forget your camera—it’s easy to take some truly breathtaking photos of these aquatic beauties!
7) Set Sail On A Pirate Ship
One of Marco Island’s top attractions is a pirate ship adventure. Cruise around in an old-timey schooner and immerse yourself in a world of pirate lore and swashbuckling adventure. For an authentic, interactive experience, it doesn’t get much better than a day at sea on a pirate ship! Arrrg!
