Unlike other cruises, Danube River cruises offer its voyagers a lifetime experience. From exploring the beautiful cities, to the merry-making activities, there are many activities that you can engage in as you cruise along the Danube River. In fact, most cruises allow voyagers to spend a day or two in some of the exciting cities along the way. Besides this, you will be able to enjoy special treatment by the professional staff that work in different ships. There are also modern amenities in these ships aimed at making your stay more comfortable. As far as cruising periods are concerned, it can vary. Some can go on for weeks, while others can take a month or so. Since every river cruise line sails on this particular river, there are a number of Danube River cruise itineraries to choose from. They include:

Short Cruises
Sometimes, you may be operating on a budget but would wish to enjoy cruising on the Danube River. These cruises are the best alternative for you. A good example of this cruise is Avalon Waterways. If you board this cruise, you will spend 3 nights cruising from Budapest to Vienna.

Weeklong Danube River Cruises
If you want to spend a week enjoying your voyage along this river, you can consider these cruises. Unlike other cruises, this one allows voyagers to cruise for 7 nights. This voyage starts from Budapest all the way to Vienna, Austria. Some of the port cities you may see along the way include Regensburg, Passau, Melk, and Germany.

Lower Danube River Cruise
This itinerary consists of 3 sections. These include the upper, middle and lower. It is imperative to note that most cruises usually focus more on the first 2 sections. However, you can still cruise the lower section by passing through Eastern European countries. Typically, these cruises usually start from Budapest and end at the Black Sea in Romania. Some of the countries that you can pass through as you cruise include Croatia, Bulgaria, and Serbia.

Longer Cruises
Sometimes, you may want to spend ample time cruising the Danube River. If this is the case, these types of cruises are the ultimate solution for you. Unlike other cruises, this one can last from 8 to 16 days. Therefore, you will have a good opportunity to visit a number of ports and have fun. The good news is that some cruise lines allow voyagers to enjoy their cruise for one month and beyond. Here, they will cruise not only the Danube River but also other rivers such as the Rhine and Main River. This means that a voyager can cruise from Bucharest to Amsterdam.

Christmas Market Cruises
If you are looking for a way to spice up your Christmas holiday, you should consider Christmas market cruises. The good news is that the prices for these cruises are usually low during this period so as to attract as many voyagers as possible.  Here, you will not only cruise but also have fun inside the ship. From gingerbread cookies to hot sausages, there are many snacks you can take along the way. To avoid the last-minute rush, you should book your cruise early enough so that you are not left out.

Conclusion

While enjoying the scenic beauty as you cruise throughout the gorgeous landscapes to opportunities to bicycle, there are many reasons why you should consider Danube River cruises. The itineraries mentioned above can help you plan your voyage more appropriately.
