Reasons Why You Should Visit Barcelona.

  • August 18, 2021

Barcelona is one of the top ten of cities you must visit. You may be impressed by this beautiful city. In a country with a completely different language, you may be able to learn and make yourself understood because Spain is a multicultural country and its cities. This article will detail what enjoyable, entertaining, and rewarding activities you will be more likely to do once you are there.

Why go to Barcelona?

First, Barcelona is a multicultural city. It is full of people from different countries; it might be surprising for everyone to realise that many people choose Barcelona. Still, the simple reason is that it is a very welcoming country. Sometimes, people may think they would not like to visit Barcelona because they do not know the language. Little do they know that in Barcelona, as in other parts of Spain, there are schools of Spanish which would be very excited to receive tourists. So, Spanish courses in Barcelona are part of the rewarding activities that this city is ready to offer. Moreover, in these Language Schools like Expanish, you may realise that you belong, as many people will be going through the same situation.

Apart from making friends and acquaintances, you may know more about the culture of this city and the country.  Together with your classmates you can go and visit the most famous sights. Some of them were designed by the Architect Antonio Gaudí. His masterpiece was and still is The Sagrada Familia, and it is the most visited place in Spain. Its construction started in 1882 and is not yet finished. When Gaudí died, he had only sketched the façade, and his disciple continued his work. Not only did he designed the basilica, but also he left behind other one-of-a-kind works, including Park Güell, Casa Vicens, Casa Batlló, Casa Milà, Casa Calvet, Torre Bellesguard and Col·legi de Les Teresianes, in addition to the pavilions at the Güell estate. Furthermore, Gaudí was also the architect for several projects in Catalonia too.

On the other hand, if you think that all Gaudí’s works are a lot, after visiting the Sagrada Familia, you can go to the Barrio Gothic, which is the oldest neighbourhood and a Historical centre in Barcelona, there you will find the Cathedral, and in its surroundings which are highly recommended to go through as the streets are so tight that they kind of make you feel amazed. Also, the Square of the King, Saint Jaume Square, Royal Square, or you might find it more interesting to visit the Rambla, the boundary which traces the division of the end of the Barrio Gothic. The Rambla is one of the most crowded places to visit in Barcelona, there you can see the Boqueria Market, and at the end of the Rambla, you may find Colón’s monument, which is considered a viewpoint of this area. All these places can be visited by bike tours or just going on these tours with your classmates and teachers who will be desiring to go and, at the same time, practice the language.

After visiting all those places mentioned before, you might be starving, so, bearing in mind that you are in one of the countries where food is very delicious and so national, you would love to try some of the tapas that restaurants or bars have to offer. Seafood is also very characteristic, so some paella is another possibility. If you are more on the vegetarian side of the world, some potatoes tortilla is an exciting and flavoured option.  Even though you may think that food is unnecessary regarding the tourism of a country or a city, Barcelona is very famous for its food, especially the Iberian ham. Furthermore, Spain is very famous for its Iberian ham, a very salty cold meat that drives people crazy. So, if you doubt what to do, maybe food will be a way to convince you.

Although the architecture and the food are the most engaging activities to do, there is another one that might or might not like you because it is related to football, and many people do not like it. However, suppose you want it, in Barcelona. In that case, you will be able to visit Camp Nou, Barcelona’s football team stadium. Tickets might be hard to get, so you may have to schedule them in advance and pay special attention to which kind of game you would be more likely to attend. Even though football may not be considered attractive by some people, it is an activity worth enjoying.

Nevertheless, if for some reason someone does not like all the ideas detailed before, if you go in summer, from May to September, there are many beaches in Barcelona to visit, all foreigners choose the most famous and the one is La Barceloneta, famous for its sand and its calm water, and which is located in the neighbourhood carrying the same name.

All in all, even though you may find difficult the idea of travelling, there are many places to visit and many touristic points which are very appealing for everyone who decides to visit one of the most diverse cities around the world. It is a city full of people who ended up moving to work and to study or people who only travelled and returned because they really loved the city and not only its sights, but also its people.

People from Barcelona are very welcoming and willing to receive people from other cultures who make their city look even better from the outside. Do not hesitate to do your research and plan everything because it is a very crowded place and sometimes when the peak season starts, Barcelona is in the Top 5 of the most appealing cities to visit.
