Walking in Spain is very different to walking in the UK, and you might have to pack a few different things compared to a UK holiday. What to pack for walking in Spain:
- Sunscreen – If you don’t wear and take sunscreen with you on your walking route, the likelihood of burning is very high. So, stay protected and avoid burning! It can make for a very uncomfortable holiday if you let this slide.
- Hat – Similar to wearing sunscreen, a hat is needed to protect your scalp from UBV rays. It can also protect you against heatstroke.
- Sunglasses – There is nothing worse than walking through beautiful scenery only to have to squint because the sun is in your eyes. Not only will you get a better view of your surrounding by wearing sunglasses, but your face will be protected even more for the sun.
- Water and snacks – Whilst walking in Spain, you probably have the sun beaming down on you, and therefore, that chances of becoming dehydrated are high! Ensuring you have plenty of water with you is a must, and it might be worth checking from pit spots along the way just in case you need some more. Taking snacks with you is also essential, walking can take a lot of energy from you and snacks will help you refuel.
- A small first aid kit – Whether you are walking in the UK or in Spain, you should take a small first aid kit with you that includes things such as plasters, bandages, insect repellent, antiseptic wipes, safety pics and antibiotic treatment.
- A light overshirt – If you are walking on a relatively hot day, taking a light overshirt with you can work in a number of ways. It can be used as head scarf to protect you from the sun, it can be used as a shawl to stop your shoulders from burning, and it can be put on fully, just in case it gets a little chilly!
- Walking poles – The terrain in Spain varies depending on which walking holiday you choose to go on, but if you choose somewhere like Alicante’s Rugged Mountain, the terrain might be more challenging to walk on, and walking pole will help you along the way.
So, which Inntravel holiday will you go for? Whether you opt for the Catalan Coast of the cities of Spanish South, make sure you pack correctly and of course, enjoy!
