6 Benefits of a Staycation

  • May 21, 2021
  • Jules

With travel plans being so disrupted throughout the pandemic, many are turning to staycations as their next best option. While you may have had your eye on that sunny vacation abroad, staying home can also be just as enjoyable. Below are six benefits of a staycation and why they can be as good as a holiday overseas.

Less Hassle

One of the biggest perks when it comes to a staycation is that there is far less hassle. Rather than having to deal with airport security, you can simply jump in your car or caravan and hit the road (unless you opt for the train instead). Staycations mean that you can enjoy the merits of traveling without the hassle of getting to and from the airport and worrying whether your bags will arrive with you.

Saves Time and Money

For those who are taking a car, motorhome, or caravan, this type of holiday will save you time and money. This is especially the case if you compare it with a long-haul flight to a destination that is far away. Staycations mean that you can travel to places that are only a few hours away, but that will also grant you extra time to relax and spend quality time with the family. You’ll also save heaps of money by avoiding all the additional travel that comes with flying.

Works Great for Short Breaks

Staycations are also great if you haven’t got a tremendous amount of time for a holiday. Some vacations require that you add an extra couple of days to include travel time and get adjusted to the time difference. How many times have you traveled on a long-haul flight only to spend many hours doing extra travel when you get there? If you stay in your home country or region, you can get away and maximize your holiday time.

No Jet Lag

One of the best parts of a staycation is the lack of jet lag. This can be one of the most uncomfortable aspects of global travel as it can take a few days to adjust. While the excitement of being somewhere new can offset this tiredness, the feeling of jet lag can be uncomfortable and even more difficult to deal with once you return home from holiday.

It’s Pet-Friendly

If dogs are a big part of your family unit, a staycation is a great way of taking them with you. This can be made even more enjoyable if you rent a caravan from the likes of Horizon Teardrop Caravans. Not only is this more fun and comfortable for everyone, but it allows you to enjoy the great outdoors while saving money on hotels, flights, and pet sitters.

It’s More Sustainable

With so much concern about the environment these days, staycations are also a great way to improve your carbon footprint. While driving also contributes to greenhouse gases, it is far less damaging than flights — especially if you opt for a long-haul one. By staying in your home country or local region, you can take comfort in knowing you’re also doing your part for the planet.
