Renting a Car in Dubai. All the Features a Tourist Needs to Know.

  • May 4, 2021
  • admin

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a country that is highly specialized for the owner of a personal vehicle. Excellent roads and traffic management make moving from point A to point B a great way to spend time and see more of the country. Spending a vacation in Dubai or Sharjah, you can easily try yourself as an owner of an ordinary car of economy class, or rent a luxury car at https://renty.ae/cars/porsche-911-carrera like a Lamborghini or Porsche 911 Carrera. And there is not only status but also practical sense, because the car, even the cheapest by the standards of this country, will give you much greater freedom of movement and independence from public transport.

Today we will tell in detail about how to rent a car so that it would not be ruinous for your wallet and would not spoil your mood. And at the same time, we shall tell you about some national peculiarities of driving documents on UAE roads – rules, fines, and others.

Documents necessary for car rentals

Renting a car in the Emirates is different from a similar process in Europe. Here the possession of an international driver’s license is strictly checked.

To rent a car in the UAE one should be older than 21-25 years old, have experience of driving not less than one year. driving experience not less than a year, and provide the following set of documents:

  • International passport;
  • National driver’s license;
  • International driving license;
  • Bank credit card;
  • The necessary amount for security deposit + rental cost

Embossed credit card

A credit card is always needed for rentals so that you can It is essential for your credit card so that you can lock in the deposit.

This deposit is required in case you damage the car and pay penalties. Associated with the term “deposit” is the concept of “franchise”. This is the amount of the renter’s responsibility for the damage to the car.

The most interesting feature about it is that even if you rent a Lamborghini for $1000 per day, the value of the deposit is incommensurably small compared to its real price. And even if a car is “totaled”, no one will ask for its full value, you risk only franchise (usually the franchise = the deposit for the car). Ideally, of course, when the deposit is 0, and you are not responsible for anything. This is the most comprehensive insurance, usually, you have to pay extra for it, and its cost on average is equal to one more cost of renting a car with the usual standard insurance.

Another reason for charging a deposit is possible fines. The fact is that the UAE violations are fixed automatically by tracking cameras. Of course, all fines come to the rental company, and it must pay them from the temporarily blocked funds of the client.

To block the deposit, the rental company accepts ONLY CREDIT CARD.

And this is where the problems begin. The fact is that most cards belong to the so-called debit bank cards. Also problematic is when the name on the card does not match the driver and their passport or the driver’s license. Make sure these all match before you head overseas.
