For photographers, simply snapping a quick shot may do the trick some of the time. But finding the right setting and atmosphere is just as important as the subject of your photos.
Weโve put together a list of our top six photo shoot venues in Atlanta GA. When compiling this list, we tried to envision the types of settings any photographer might want to use.ย
We handpicked these locations for a number of reasons. Some were chosen for their great scenery, others were chosen as great spots for a photo shoot, and some were just awe-inspiring locales.
#1. Historic Meredith House Estate: a photographerโs dream
The first location on our list is simply breathtaking. Whether youโre looking for a shot of the landscape or youโre planning a photo shoot in one of the homeโs many rooms, youโre guaranteed a gorgeous photo.
The spacious Meredith House Estate is like something out of your favorite period drama. It offers several spaces for taking photos both inside and outside, including a dreamscape back yard and a number of rooms with different themes. A photographer could nearly fill a portfolio with the options in this house!
#2. Agenda Studios: a 19th-century industrial space with loads of character
Sometimes, the character of the space adds that little extra something to make a photo special, whether itโs an old-timey atmosphere, or just a rugged and lived-in look that gives the place an indescribable charm. A perfect example of a venue filled with character and history, Agenda Studios is a spacious 19th-century factory with loads of possibilities.
The venue is suitable for photo and video shoots and has loads of indoor and outdoor space. The worn brick and metal features combined with sparse greenery give an appeal that canโt be matched in a traditional studio.
#3. Gentry-McClinton House: historic charm and Southern appeal in a stunning 1910 photo shoot venue
There are a number of iconic period homes in Atlanta, GA, none more so than the historic former Gentry-McClinton House. This house was built in 1910 by famed Fox Theatre architect P. Thornton Marye.ย
The Neoclassical architecture combined with a well-manicured lawn and period finishes makes this home look both stately and rustic. This is the perfect venue for shooting photos reminiscent of a bygone era.
The outdoor lawn and porch are great for large family shots where the goal is catch everyone together in a single frame. The expertly manicured hedges and pristine lawn with flower beds along the sides also make for great landscape photos.
The interior of this spacious home has a mix of both modern and period features, making it an ideal setting for many types of shoots, from family group shots to candid living shots.
#4 Art Box: a loft space for professional photo shoots
Our fourth entry is Art Box, a classic loft style studio and hub for local artists and creators. With plenty of open space and 12-foot ceilings, this space is ideal for doing professional model shoots or getting simple family portraits done against a neutral background.
The venue also offers plenty of space for magazine cover shoots, furniture shoots, and other setups. Art Box features a number of amenities to fulfill every photographerโs needs, including space for wardrobe and makeup, 24/7 access, and Wi-Fi.
This space is perfect for an afternoon or for regular rentals and is a great option for session work as well.
#5. Southern Company Corporate Office: great for business photos
For photographers looking to take photos in a business setting or for ideas on what a modern corporate office looks like, look no further than Southern Company in Atlanta. With access to the lobby, meeting rooms, cafeteria, and parking deck, this venue offers a great space to capture a snapshot of modern corporate life.
The space combines a contemporary look and feel with spacious rooms, high ceilings, lots of greenery, and outdoor light while still retaining that professional appeal. The venue also offers great views of the surrounding city of Atlanta for those of us who like to incorporate city life elements into our photos.
#6. Abandoned Horror Cottage: the perfect place for a spooky shoot
This entry is for those of you seeking a particular aesthetic. Still shots of horror themed cottages are great for artistic projects or for that โHalloween Spooktacularโ photo shoot. This privately-owned venue is the perfect place to dress up and get some candid scare shots or just play around with the scenery.
The building itself features yellowing walls and stained carpets for that real haunted house look, and the lot is spacious enough for large gatherings and decorating for spooky scenes. Located just outside of Atlanta, this cottage is a great option for special interest photography.
Booking the right venue
For this list, we wanted to envision anything that a photographer could want out of a booking. We thought about space, lighting, availability, and overall aesthetic. Itโs important that it feels right when you go to take that first shot and all of our pics offer something special.
Our choices reflected a variety of styles, from modern and contemporary to post modern, chic and stylish. We like to think that every place has potential, but these six picks each represent something unique that a fellow photographer might want out of their next venue. If youโre in the market for a new shoot location, consider booking one of these spots.
