Chiapas, Mexico

You will get to see two countries for the price of one if you visit the charming Mexican town that borders Guatemala. You can go hiking in the mountains where you will see beautiful panoramic views. If you prefer to keep your feet on the ground you can tour one of many Mayan archaeological sites.

You can go on a bar tour where you will get to partake of alcohol known as pox. It is a drink that the Mayans used in spiritual ceremonies. Spanish missionaries once tried to take the potent stuff away from the tribe, but they resisted. It is considered to have magical properties and is often consumed in the presence of a spiritual guide. 

You will find plenty of places to go rafting in the Soconusco Region. You can also go on a tour of a coffee farm. The fact that it is one of Mexico’s lesser-known tourist spots makes it great for actually getting away from it all.

The Catskill Mountains

Known as the favorite getaway for the Borscht Belt, this resort area began to gain notoriety in the 1920s and was popular until the 1960s. It has recently been rediscovered and there are many boutique hotels opening up. Some of the new hotels will have special offers to introduce themselves to the public.

Burlington, VT

If you want to experience the perfect summer getaway, you may want to visit the city of Burlington, Vermont. In addition to the beautiful mountains and forests for which the state is famous, it is also a small city with plenty of fun and innovative bars and restaurants. 

You can enjoy boating on Lake Champlain and go camping in the woods one day and stay at the Hotel Vermont and have dinner in a fancy restaurant the next day. 

When people visit New England, they generally visit two or three states because they are all very small and close together. If you visit Vermont, New Hampshire is very close by and offers beautiful hiking and natural areas.
