The Best Foods to Try on your Tanzania trip:

#1 Nyama Choma

This delicacy is practical and can be found in every corner and is always fresh and in small portions. Nyama Choma is a grilled meat dish made from lamb or beef, and more rarely from goat or chicken.

Traditionally, the meat is served in small pieces and remains on the grill until it is traditionally juicy and tender on its own. Nyama Choma can be served as finger food or as a small snack with ugali, a corn porridge reminiscent of polenta.

Along the safari route and a tourist hotspot, this dish of chicken or beef is heard too. Lamb and goat are more likely to be found in the village regions in the snack bars.

#2 Red Bananas

Red bananas are only available on their own in Moshi and Arusha representations. Likewise, the opportunities on the way to the Serengeti in Mto wa Mbu are excellent.

These essential truths, which are a classic banana in shape, are sweeter and more fruity than the traditional yellow banana. Since it is a real and belonging rarity, you should definitely try it.

#3 Tanzanian beer

People tend to think of Germany, England, or Eastern Europe rather than Tanzania when it comes to beer. Beer is one of the things that are brewed in Africa in different varieties.

The beers are excellent. You can choose from:

  • Serengeti Beer,
  • Kilimanjaro Beer,
  • and an interesting Safari Beer.

Wine and liqueurs are also on the drinks menu in Tanzania. The Dodoma wine is aromatic and very easy to learn.

Those who love coconut’s taste can try the Afrikoko liqueur and have the excellent taste of chocolate and coconut.

#4 Ugali

Traditionally, ugali is served with meat and vegetables. The pre-existing corn porridge is a side dish that comes with the proper selection on the table and is seasoned differently in each hamlet.

In Tanzania, meat is the main dish of the day. But vegetarians don’t have to travel with growling stomachs either. Beans and cabbage, as well as a spinach-like vegetable named Boga, are on the menus.

The spices play a vital role in cuisine, especially:

  • cinnamon,
  • curry,
  • and cloves.
