The Perfect Guide For A More Sustainable Travel Experience

  • December 5, 2019
  • admin

Sustainable traveling simply means reducing your negative influence on the Earth, encouraging local economies, and ensuring the well being of wildlife while traveling.

It is everyone’s innate duty to safeguard the environment because we are all in this together. Traveling or holidaying is no excuse to harm the air, water, and earth. This article lists a few tips to make your travel experience sustainable.

Encourage local artists

While traveling, we all love to buy souvenirs. We go to the “main markets” with the “proper shops” and pay them the money they ask for. However, there’s no guarantee that these products were originally manufactured in the same region. It’s quite obvious that these shopkeepers import inexpensive goods from China and sell in a different country under the label of authentic and traditional items.

To avoid being misled as a customer and to help boost the local economy, always try to buy handicrafts from the regional artists. It helps them grow and prosper as artists.  To make sure that your holidays are eco-friendly, go check out Holiable, a sustainable travel guide. With Holiable, all of the aforementioned sustainable traveling recommendations are fulfilled without hampering your fun.

Ditch the plane

If you really are all about making a change, ditch the plane and catch a train. Avoiding plane journeys reduces your carbon footprint. Hence, you don’t contribute to global warming while traveling.

In fact, train journeys are slower than plane journeys and allow you to feel and watch the lands of every place you cross. You can even get down at stations and explore the places that fall before and after your destination. Not only will this add up to a more sustainable journey, but also it will save you a lot of money.

No plastic

It goes without saying that plastic is wreaking havoc on the planet. The reason being, its lack of biodegradability. So, the easiest way to make sure that your holiday fun is not choking the environment is by quitting plastic. Plastic straws, glasses, and bags can easily be avoided.

Plastic not only harms the lands but also suffocates and even kills the aquatic animals. In no way can plastic use be justified. So, let’s put a full stop to this devastation by avoiding plastic on our next holiday.

Stand with the wildlife

There are many travel destinations that are flooded with tourists because of their vulgar display of animal exploitation. These words might sound harsh, but what they actually mean in our talking language are animal rides, nonvegetarian food, and animal leather. Engaging in animal tourism derives animals of their rights and even kills them.

It might be hard to avoid fancy seafood or that famous meat shop on holiday, but the benefits of staying off of nonvegetarian food are many. Vegetarianism is good for both your body and the planet. So, if you want to be pro sustainable traveling, don’t promote animal exploitation of any sort.
