Grand Bahama sits in the northeast region of the Bahama archipelago. Because of its popularity among with holidaymakers, you’ll find plenty of accommodation available. The best vacations are around the coast which include beachside villas with rooftop infinity pools. You’ll find all the facilities and amenities to have the perfect holiday. From a tourist point of view, you’ll find dozens of local guides. They’re more than happy to show you around their island. Listen to their stories about the way of life and the Bahaman culture. Arrange a tour to visit the biodiverse Petersen Cay National Park. Inside you’ll find thousands of species including tropical birds, enormous fish and countless types of mammals. After the national park, check out William’s Town. This is the largest settlement on Grand Bahama and exhibits the island’s historical and cultural core.

The Abacos

If you want a romantic getaway, the Abacos is the best place to stay in the Bahamas. Located in the northern part of the archipelago, Abacos consists of two main islands (Great and Little Abaco Island) and thousands of barrier islands sprawling 200 kilometres. The highlight is the chance to embrace the outdoors. You can visit four national parks to go hiking or wildlife spotting. Or relax on the beaches including both white and an unusual pink sand beach. Stroll around the trails and you’ll find countless species of birds (in particular colourful parrots) and swimming pigs! If you love nature and want to have a luxurious holiday filled with romance, head to The Abacos.

New Providence Island

Bimini

Bimini is made up of three main islands that form the archipelago’s fishing capital. Holidaymakers and sport fishermen descent on North, South and East Bimini each year. And not just once, but all day long. Just imagine floating and relaxing in the water waters reeling in some of the biggest fish of your life. Aside from fishing, visitors can go scuba diving down to the SS Sapona shipwreck.

The Berry Islands

Or booking a seat on the seaplanes. But its remoteness makes the trip worthwhile. You won’t find the hotels and tourist infrastructure like the rest of the Bahamas. Instead, you’ll find a postcard perfect paradise to enjoy in isolation. Only a handful of hotels exist, and you do need to book them up well in advance. A highlight in the Berry Islands is the potential for deep sea fishing.

If you want to get off the beaten path, Cat Island is the best place to stay in the Bahamas. Cat Island is the most remote and least visited in the archipelago. Because of this, the island has a unique culture and set of traditions. Tourists can explore the ruins of old churches and tour plantations set up during the colonial days. You can also visit the island’s strangest attraction: The Mysterious Boiling Hole. Don’t expect to see any felines on Cat Island. But you might get to see baby sharks swimming in the water if you visit during the right time of the year.
