Vilamoura is a beautiful resort town right in the middle of the beautiful coastal region of Algarve in Portugal. It is situated at a marina complex with some of the best hotels in the world, great nightlife and opulent fine dining. There are beaches to the south full of palatial developments and five world-class golf courses.
If you’re looking for a Portugal holiday destination that you will have pleasant memories of for the rest of your life, then Vilamoura is it. The climate is tranquil, and the beaches are stunning. Here is a guide to what to do while you’re there, courtesy of https://www.360golfholidays.com/portugal/vilamoura/.
Golf
One of the things that the Algarve is famous for is the range of beautiful world-class golf courses you’re going to find there. Vilamoura happens to be right at the center of it. The premier golf courses in Vilamoura include Victoria Golf Course, Pinhal Golf Course, Laguna Golf Course, Millennium Golf Course and the Old Course Golf Club.
There are also golf agencies in the marina complex that will organize everything for you, from the transport to the major courses to renting golf club clubs and more. If all you’re going to Algarve for is a golf holiday, then Vilamoura is the place to be.
Beaches
Vilamoura seems to be on the edge of one of the largest beaches in Algarve. The Praia da Falesia is nearly 4 miles long and lies at the center while the Praia de Vilamoura lies to the west, stunning in its own light. The sand on the beaches in Vilamoura is golden and the waters are clear as crystals. They’re also safe and clean so that you and your children can swim safely and securely.
Waterparks
If you’re looking for a holiday destination for your entire family, the Vilamoura is perfect. An activity that entertains preteens, teenagers, as well as adults, is taking a ride in a waterpark, such as at Aquashow Park. From the giant rubber rings to the gravity-defying vertical slides, you’re certainly going to enjoy yourself. Other parks to visit include Aqualand, Slide ‘n’ Splash and Zoomarine.
Tours, Boat Trips & Fishing Trips
There are lots of boat trips that take you out from the marina, giving you tours of the coastline, deep-sea fishing and dolphin spotting. If you want to be more adventurous than that you can go for the personal watercraft, jet boats or speedboats. If you want to go all out, then enjoy a sunset cruise on a private yacht charter.
Day Trip to Loule
Loule is a market town that is as Portuguese as it gets. It makes for an excellent day trip from Vilamoura. The market is open on all days of the week except Sunday and is housed in a covered market with Northern African inspirations. The backstreets are cobbled and pretty and filled with small workshops and quaint houses.
The ambience at Loule is distinctly Portuguese, and the locals socialize in the cafes as women gossip in open doorways and men sit all day at the same beach. There is an inexpensive but regular bus service that connects Vilamoura to Loule.
